Representative Julie Rogers serves the 41st House District in the Kalamazoo area and is an active Physical Therapist. She is currently running for a seat in the Michigan Senate.
Representative Rogers has advocated for occupational therapy over the years and has been instrumental in sponsoring numerous bills to protect the OT scope of practice. In July 2026, as the sponsor of the OT compact she successfully got it signed into law after 5 years of relentless advocating HB 4103-4104. Recently, she sponsored a bill to support healthcare providers (including OT/OTA's) who take fieldwork students to receive tax credit. HB 6288-6295
On September 12, Kalamazoo is hosting its annual Communiversity Event and Rep. Rogers is participating by walking throughout the community to speak with individuals about advocating for health care and health professionals. She has asked OTs, OTAs, and students to participate in this event with her.
This is a wonderful opportunity to support Representative Rogers and show our gratitude for all her support over the years. Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity for OT/OTA students and SOTA to kick off the new school year by learning about advocacy while volunteering in the community.
Disclaimer: MiOTA does not support one political party over the other, MiOTA and AOTA support legislators who support OT.
