What an incredible week for The Mitten Pediatric Palliative and Hospice Foundation!

From meaningful conversations and connections with Ronald McDonald House, MSU FCU, and so many amazing individuals in our community, we continue to be humbled by those willing to give their time, talent, and treasure to support Michigan’s children and families.

Every meeting, every introduction, every offer to help, and every person who says, “How can I be part of this?” brings us one step closer to our dream of creating a place where no family has to navigate their child’s most difficult journey alone.

And now, all of that momentum is leading to something very special…

✨ We are thrilled to officially announce the Inaugural Mitten Foundation Gala! ✨

This will be more than a gala. It will be a night of hope, community, generosity, and a shared belief that Michigan’s children and families deserve compassionate support when they need it most.

I don’t miss the person I was before my child died.

I miss having my child.

There’s a difference.

People sometimes talk about “getting yourself back” after loss, as though healing means returning to who you used to be.

But love doesn’t work that way.

When someone you love dies, your life changes.
Your heart changes.
You change.

I didn’t lose myself.

I became the person child loss made me.

If you’ve known me for years, I understand why you might miss the old me.

I do too.

But if you want to know me today…

don’t keep looking for the person grief changed.

Get to know the one who is still here.
