September is National Recovery Month

Recovery isn't a solo journey, and it starts with being seen. That's why we do what we do: storytelling, education, action.

Our 2025 survey of 559 LGBTQ+ Kentuckians found Western Kentucky carries the highest drug use of any region in the state. 56.7% have ever used co***ne, crack, he**in, or m**h, and 38.8% are currently using (vs. 39.9% and 25.6% statewide). Western Kentucky also leads on physical assault, healthcare gaps, HIV testing gaps, and folks deciding to leave the state entirely.

Substance use doesn't happen in isolation. It's compounded by every other pressure our community faces.

To everyone in recovery, everyone supporting them, and everyone doing the healing work: we see you. We're not going anywhere.

On Stonewall Day, we remember the people who refused to disappear. The ones who stood together in the face of injustice and changed history. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Because of their courage, more of us can live openly, love freely, and be seen for who we are.

We look forward to having you attend the 3rd annual "Kentucky LGBTQ+ Health & Wellness Fair" that is planned for Sept.26,2026, 10AM-2PM. We will be located at 1733 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY. This event is a "one stop shop" of healthcare professionals, advocates, businesses and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Gathered together for a one-day event to discuss and promote the health and wellness of our LGBTQ+ community. This focus of this event is health and wellness, so those vendors will be given priority. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to network, learn from experts, and leave with information to improve their health and well-being. There is no charge to be a vendor. Vendors will be limited to 30 this year. Early registration is recommended. You will be notified by MAY 15, 2026, with a confirmation email if accepted. Today marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia — a global call to uphold dignity, equality, and human rights for all. 💛

First observed in 2004, this day honors the 1990 decision to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders — and reminds us how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go.

At its core, this day is about humanity. About recognizing that every person deserves to live freely, safely, and authentically.

Dr. Maya Angelou once said: “We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”

Let that truth guide us — toward compassion, understanding, and respect for one another. 💛

Trans+ History Week (May 4–10, 2026) is a powerful, trans-led celebration honoring the history and resilience of transgender, non-binary, gender-diverse, and intersex individuals, focusing on education, storytelling, and the reclaiming of trans history, particularly on Trans+ History Day, May 6, which marks the 1933 N**i raid on Berlin’s Institute for Sexual Science.
