Description: Mental health care is often reactive, focused on addressing difficulties once they have taken hold. One of the most powerful ways to make a long-term difference is to shift this perspective from reactive to proactive. Therapists are uniquely situated to lead that shift. They can help children adopt a proactive mindset toward their own mental health and support the important relationships around them (with educators, parents, and other caregivers) in understanding it too. When we reframe coping skills as positive mental health practices rather than tools reserved for moments of distress, we help normalize mental health and promote healthy habits across whole families. This webinar introduces a practical toolkit and framework for weaving these proactive strategies into work with children and the systems that surround them, with school settings as a key focus but not the only one. Participants can earn a CEU for attending the webinar.
