🐗❤️ Heart health meets Hog pride!

Our cardiac sonographers packed up their gear and headed to Fayetteville this week to volunteer at Razorback athlete health screenings — making sure our student-athletes are cleared to compete safely, on and off the field.

Preventive screening is one of the most powerful tools we have for catching heart conditions before they become emergencies, especially in young athletes pushing their bodies to the limit.

Huge thanks to our team for volunteering their time and expertise to keep Arkansas athletes healthy. This is what it looks like when academic medicine shows up for the community. 💪

When a patient’s heart or lungs need extra support, ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) can step in — a machine that takes over adding oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the blood, giving critically ill patients time to heal.

This team doesn’t just care for our sickest patients — they also help train APPs, clinical specialists, and floor nurses on ECMO fundamentals to narrow to care gap and bridge patients into the next stage of healing.
