For many children with autism, transitions can feel overwhelming. Busy stores, doctor appointments, family outings, or even changes in routine can create stress and anxiety for both the child and caregiver.
A trained autism service dog provides grounding, structure, and calm support during those moments — helping children feel safer and more secure in the world around them.

Support changes everyday life. 💚

🚫 MYTH BUSTER:
“All service dogs are born and raised for service work.”

Not always!
Some amazing service dogs begin their journey in shelters or rescue programs. What matters most is temperament, trainability, confidence, and the ability to connect with their future handler.

At Saving Grace Service Dogs, we’ve seen rescue dogs thrive in service work and become incredible partners for children with autism.

A dog’s past doesn’t define their future. 🐾

June is National Foster a Pet Month — and this cause is especially close to our hearts. 🐾

Some of the most incredible service dog candidates we’ve worked with came from local shelters. Dogs that were once surrendered, overlooked, or picked up off the streets have gone on to become life-changing companions for children with autism.
We work closely with local shelters to observe temperament, behavior, confidence, and connection to help determine if a dog may be a good fit for service work.

Every dog deserves a chance.
Sometimes that chance changes a child’s life too. 💙

Thank you.
Whether in person or through our online training programs, we’re honored to walk alongside you.
Every step forward matters.

Hope can look like small wins.
A calmer outing.
A safer walk.
A moment of connection.
Service dogs help create those moments—one day at a time.
And through online and in person training, families can continue building those wins at home.

Education is a big part of what we do.
We help families understand not just what a service dog does—but how they can work together as a team.
Our online training makes that education accessible no matter where you live.
Knowledge builds confidence—for both the child and the caregiver.

Myth: Service dogs only help with physical disabilities.
Fact: Service dogs also provide critical support for children with autism—helping with emotional regulation, safety, and daily transitions.
And with our online training, families learn how to work with their service dog in real-life situations.

Today, on National Rescue Dog Day, we celebrate second chances.
Many of the dogs we work with begin their journey in local animal shelters—some surrendered, some found without a home.
Through careful observation and evaluation, we identify dogs with the right temperament and potential to become service dogs.
And we’ve seen something incredible…
Dogs once without a home finding purpose—
and becoming a life-changing partner for a child in need.
Rescue dogs don’t just get a second chance.
They help change someone else’s life, too.

And with online training, families can prepare for those moments ahead of time.
