A few days ago I received news someone I love dearly started hospice care. Last night we were updated she was starting to pass on and wouldn’t be responding to us anymore. I don’t think anyone would agree she’s old enough to go through this. But she has suffered with her health for a long time and deserves peace. In my family, we light candles when we pray and this candle has been burning faintly until it finally went out. It’s not made any different than my other bright burning candles. Poetic.
Thank you Marie Fukino, Mama Fuki, my hānai mom for all the years of loving your “Ruby Ru” and I. The love you gave me provided so much nurturing and support no matter where I’ve gone in life since we met. Walking lightly and breathing as you take a piece of my heart with you to the afterlife. Now we can watch hula and other traditional dances closer together. 🌺🌊❤️🩹
