Desert Rey's Apothecary

Desert Rey's Apothecary Desert Rey's is a platform to provide crafts and wisdom from a holistic and cultural perspective. Who is Rey? It has been so for unnumbered generations.

Reynna comes from women who care for their families with home remedies as much as possible. Being the little girl who made plant potions while playing outside and being an artist gives birth to a place to share things with You as they come. Reynna is also a face of long term addiction and homelessness. Her internal healing process is transmuted in to a labor of love and compassion for others.

VERY exciting news for our Apothecary! The Nestled Recovery Center is a substance use and mental health treatment facility with core values in holistic wellness. They have asked Desert Rey’s to bring workshops in for their alumni! Our first one will be Fire Cider. This wouldn’t be possible if I gave up along the way. Humbled to see where being tenacious with my passions take me. ❤️‍🔥

The first picture is the last of the Fire Cider I drank today, followed by pictures from past workshops. I need to make more at home so stay tuned for a chance to make some with me in October!

We are going to be rightfully selfish this next couple weeks! I will be going on a solo pilgrimage around Southern California to visit people and places that are Home to me. Your support will go toward the experience. It’s been a few years since I revisited my roots at this capacity and I’m thrilled. 🪶

Ask me about what we have in the shop! There are a few delicious wild crafted treasures from my family’s travels. 🌿🖤

Results can’t be touched by self doubt or the doubt of others. What started as a candle project has spiraled in to an Apothecary. I wanted to share a few honorable product mentions. My favorite reviews are from non believers, my elders, and the Youth. Please reach out if you’d like a full list of what we have this week. Whether you are helping me provide for the Community or keep food on my table, your support goes a long way. Thank You. ❤️‍🔥🪶

What a pleasant friend to acquaint ourselves with! 🙇🏽‍♀️🌿 My dad wild harvested Devil’s Club for us from Tlingit Nation. The specific area he harvested from in Western Alaska only has a population of 24. 🤯 The process starts with scraping off the outer layer that is covered in thorns, peeling the “meat” off the branches, and extracting the peeled parts. There are a range of internal uses, but we will focus on external aid. This batch is limited and there’s no telling when Desert Rey’s Apothecary will get to work with Devil’s Club again.

I have been using Devil’s Club infused oil after long days to unwind and encourage circulation in my tired body. It’s been a real “feel good” oil. It carries a very unique and calming smell. Devil’s Club infused oil is a great ally for minor stress relief, pains, wounds, burns, bug bites, rashes, skin repair, and anti-fungal needs. Safe for littles 6 months and older. My toddler niece has dog allergies and gets the occasional bug bite. Cleaning off her affected area and applying this oil stops the itch. 🙏🏽

Recently visited the Pacific Northwest with my partner to spend time with his family. I brought home Yarrow from our beachside backyard and the tincture is ready after 9 weeks! Featuring a candid he took of me being a fairy and doing a river limpia. Northernmost waters I’ve touched since walking this Red Road. 🥰 This extraction was done with alcohol, so please be mindful whether or not this is going to be something for You. 🙏🏽

Yarrow tincture can potentially clean wounds and slow bleeding when used as a wound wash. Taken internally possibly helps lymphatic support/ drainage, reduce mucus membrane discomfort, ease pain and hormone issues related to menstrual cycles, circulation, nourishment to blood vessels and capillaries, and help cold/ flus along by promoting a good sweat.

Made a dream catcher for someone near and dear with Devil’s Club branches. Love using an entire plant whenever possible.

I talked yesterday about the topical medicine we made with what my dad wild harvested in Tlingit Nation (Elfin Cove, Alaska). The stripped branches of Devils Club can be used as spiritual protection in your home. Decided we would start making dream catchers. One of however many I’ll be able to create. 🌌🖤🕸️

Very excited to share our most recent infused oil! This is my own rambling, not AI..
My dad went on a fishing trip in Alaska and foraged devil’s club for me. He heard people talking about it on his travels and it caught his interest. Neither of us have worked with this Plant before. Harvested special in a rural coastal area in Tlingit Nation, about 75 miles west of Juneau. 🎣🪶

Devil’s clubs outer layer is covered in thorns. When it’s harvested at the right time, the outer skin is very thin and can be scraped off with the blunt side of a knife. The green skin underneath is peeled off the branches and that’s what we use for internal and topical medicine. Devils club used topically targets pain, inflammation, and minor skin wounds/ irritations. I have been using the infused oil as a general “feel good” on tired body parts and love the way it feels. It also stopped bug bite itching on my baby niece.

We have dropper bottles available and might make a cream or special edition pain salve. 🧐

Yaqui Zen never disappoints I swear!
Please go support this delicious small business.

Today, I had the Spirit Plate which is a rotational item. Ceviche style Jackfruit tostada with Mango/ Cucumber Agua Fresca. What a REFRESHING meal on this hot desert day. 🤤

Having access to my Ancestral food, without making it or going out of town to my Nana’s to get it, comforts and nourishes my spirit. Makes me emotional in the best way. Yaqui Zen makes versions of our traditional foods that are more kind on our bodies and other beings. To me that’s what carrying traditions are all about. Evolving with those who came before by our side. 🌹🌵🦌🪶
