Reynna comes from women who care for their families with home remedies as much as possible. Being the little girl who made plant potions while playing outside and being an artist gives birth to a place to share things with You as they come. Reynna is also a face of long term addiction and homelessness. Her internal healing process is transmuted in to a labor of love and compassion for others.

Good morning Community! Desert Rey’s is hosting a book drive. We are taking your old books and searching thrift stores. We will be opening a small library for a 30-90 day substance use and mental health treatment program. New product alert! 🚨💃🏽
In November the Vegas family stayed on my grandparents’ property in Chiricahua Apache Nation. There’s a seasonal creek that runs through their property. I harvested Mullein in the creek bed and made an apple cider vinegar based tincture with it.

Folk medicine suggests Mullein is a useful aid in mucus and respiratory support. Mullein’s genetic constituents have the potential to offer mucus relief and soothe inflamed/ dry respiratory tissues. I still have allergies, but since starting my bottle last week, I happen to suffer less. There’s a huge increase in respiratory issues over the years and you can see Mullein growing all over the place. It’s no coincidence. Our Mother provides. 🌎

I’ve been in a rabbit hole learning about Lichens since my recent Pacific Northwest Trip. 🤓🕳️🐇

After days of studying, we started the 2 part extraction process for Usnea Lichen. My boyfriend pointed out its presence along our uphill walk with family to an Ocean view. There were pieces resting perfectly on the ground for me to put in my pocket. Plenty was left behind in the each spot I took from. Usnea is a natural indicator of great air quality. It refuses to grow in polluted areas. Referred to as the Lungs of the Forest or Spirit of the North Wind. Usnea grows about 1mm per decade. That makes some of the pieces I was blessed with hundreds of years old. There are many internal and external medicinal uses for this ancient friend (obviously with its own set of precautions). We will elaborate as this several week medicine making process goes on.

One of my favorite folk stories about Usnea is it serving as a ladder for spirits to climb and whisper messages in to the wind. It is also used in spiritual practices as a conduit of protection and spiritual growth.

I rely on other humans to teach me things and myself to write everything I post. Worth mentioning given AI is doing art and writing instead of my laundry. 🤷🏽‍♀️

A few days ago I received news someone I love dearly started hospice care. Last night we were updated she was starting to pass on and wouldn’t be responding to us anymore. I don’t think anyone would agree she’s old enough to go through this. But she has suffered with her health for a long time and deserves peace. In my family, we light candles when we pray and this candle has been burning faintly until it finally went out. It’s not made any different than my other bright burning candles. Poetic.

Thank you Marie Fukino, Mama Fuki, my hānai mom for all the years of loving your “Ruby Ru” and I. The love you gave me provided so much nurturing and support no matter where I’ve gone in life since we met. Walking lightly and breathing as you take a piece of my heart with you to the afterlife. Now we can watch hula and other traditional dances closer together. 🌺🌊❤️‍🩹

Been quiet online, but it doesn’t mean I’ve been stagnant. Quite the opposite. Lately has been for refining established practices, taking on new ones, learning lessons, and being present. I have a partner who knows getting me dirt to grow my own flowers is super romantic. This is the first spray we ever made and it’s stayed with us over time. Clarity Mist is made with homegrown Rosemary and Lavender. It can be sprayed on yourself, linens, and in rooms.

Rosemary has been known as a long time friend for potentially focusing on daily tasks, recalling or taking in new information, helping address brain fog, grounding our nervous systems, and over all uplifting our mood. Lavender is our commonly known “chill out” herb we add to offer additional nervous system support. 🙇🏽‍♀️
