•••World Bedwetting Day •••
The topic we don’t discuss enough with all of the points included.

A few key focus points⬇️
•Sometimes it can be related to constipation.
•Both children and adults can experience this.
•There is a connection between the brain and the bladder!
•Remember the bladder is a muscle about the size of your fist!

Today we pause to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice: Thank you. Your courage will never be forgotten.

THE PELVIC FLOOR SHOULD WORK WITH THE REST OF YOUR BODY! From your toes all the way up to your jaw!
The pelvic floor muscles usually do not need to work in isolation. It is important that when working on pelvic floor strengthening, it is paired with a more functional movement. Talk to your PT today about what functional movement you should be training with your pelvic floor.

Why should you see a pelvic floor therapist before birth?
SO MANY REASONS!
All too often patients discover the pelvic floor after having a baby- but the benefits of a healthy pelvic floor also include the time during pregnancy and even before!
There are times when I tell someone I am a pelvic floor therapist and they say, “Oh, I guess I will need you after I have my children.”

But did you know that we prefer seeing people BEFORE they have children rather than waiting until after they deliver their baby? There are several reasons for this:

We want to know what your pelvic floor is like before you have a child. It will help us know what your body is like, so that we can set goals specific to you for your post-birth phase.

If we can help your pelvic floor relax during pregnancy and teach you how to push without putting added pressure on your pelvic floor, then everyone will be happier in the end. You will actually end up needing LESS pelvic floor therapy after you have your child.

Our patients who prepare for birth beforehand end up with shorter labor times and less tearing from labor.

We know this is true because we hear it time and time again from the many wonderful midwives, doulas and OB-GYNs we work with!

Even before going into labor, your pelvic floor is doing lots of extra work supporting your pregnancy. It is very common for problems with the pelvic floor to develop during this period, and the earlier these problems are identified and treated, the better.

Thongs!
Who knew that wearing these could disrupt the pelvic floor!?
🦠Thong underwear can serve as a highway for the bacteria from the a**s to travel to the va**na. 🛑

Some things to consider if you are experiencing:
➡️Urgency
➡️Recurring UTI’s or yeast infections
➡️ Pelvic pain and discomfort

You might want to reconsider wearing thongs or decrease how often you wear them!
While the va**na is typically self cleaning and has a “protective” source (the v***a) and p***c hair, if bacteria has a path leading the way it can cause discomfort and other issues.

The fit of a thong can also cause pressure on the pelvic floor muscles.

Hopefully you are not experiencing these, but if you are, reach out to your health care team!

If this post speaks to you, reach out with questions!
