This final bill is becoming another economic pressure point on households’ finances as a wave of baby boomers approaches the end of their lives.

It’s a financial burden taking the biggest toll on middle- and lower-income households, which are less likely to receive sizable inheritances to help offset the cost of loved ones’ funerals.

For them, death has become unaffordable.

🍂 The Last Day of August | Welcoming September 🍂

There is something beautiful about the last day of August.

September feels like the unofficial beginning of fall. The days slowly become shorter, the air begins to change, and nature starts preparing us for a season of release.

Fall reminds us that letting go is not the same as giving up.

The trees do not cling to every leaf. They release what they no longer need, trusting that another season will come.

Perhaps we can learn something from that.

As August comes to an end, maybe this is a good time to pause and reflect.

What memories deserve to be honored?

In memory of Dolly Parton, Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory has placed a special register book in our lobby for members of our community who would like to share their condolences, memories, or a few heartfelt words in her honor. 🦋💗

We invite anyone who has been touched by Dolly’s music, kindness, generosity, or remarkable life to stop by and sign the register book. Once completed, the pages will be sent to Dolly Parton’s family as a collection of messages from our Central Virginia community.

While we are not the funeral home providing services to the family, Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to provide this opportunity for our community to remember Dolly and share their condolences, memories, and reflections on a life that touched millions.

For generations, Dolly reminded us that a little kindness, a little laughter, and a whole lot of heart can make a lasting difference. We hope these messages serve as a small reflection of just how far her impact reached. 💕
