Give back to move forward.

💙 Lakes Region VNA is proud to participate in NH Gives, New Hampshire's largest statewide day of giving.

For more than 100 years, we've been helping our neighbors receive healthcare and support right where they need it most, at home. Every donation helps us continue providing essential home health, hospice, and community-based services throughout the Lakes Region.

Save the dates because in less than 1 week online donating opens and we need you to help us make a difference, one neighbor at a time.

Cue the pomp and circumstance, seniors around the country are graduating. But this month is not just about those seniors.

We’re rounding out Older American’s Month celebrating aging citizens embarking on the next chapter of their stories. Whether retiring or refocusing in life, today’s aging population are embracing activities, friendships, and new goals.

Here are some ways today’s seniors are making the most of their evolving lives.
1️⃣Moving to Active Adult Communities and fostering new friendships with those in the same place in life
2️⃣Trying new activities such as yoga, cooking, and technology.
3️⃣Volunteering their time from civil service to peer groups
4️⃣Traveling both locally and abroad to experience the world around them
5️⃣Joining and establishing clubs and special interest groups to connect with likeminded individuals

Today’s aging adults are active, involved and interested. Their contributions are invaluable and should be celebrated not just this month but all year long.

Did you know that fresh air can have a meaningful impact, both physically and emotionally?

Even short periods outdoors or time spent near open windows and natural sunlight can improve overall wellbeing and quality of life.

Big benefits include:

😀Improving Your Mood
Fresh air, sunlight and a change of scenery can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression, as well as feelings of isolation. It provides a stronger sense of connection to the world around you.

😴Getting a Good Night’s Sleep
Exposure to natural daylight helps regulate the body’s internal clock, which can improve sleep quality and daytime alertness.

🧠Increasing Mental Stimulation
Being outdoors is a sensory environment through sounds, sights, smells and conversation, which can help support cognitive health and reduce mental fatigue.

☀️Being A Vitamin Booster
Safe exposure to sunlight helps the body produce vitamin D, which supports bone health, muscle function and the immune system.

For caregivers and families, even small moments outdoors, whether it’s a short walk, time on the porch or simply enjoying the sunshine together, can make a meaningful difference in overall comfort, mood and quality of life.

🩷 May is recognized as Women’s Health Month. Take time out of busy schedules to prioritize your health, ask questions, schedule appointments, and encourage other women in your life to do the same.

From preventive screenings and regular checkups to mental health, nutrition, movement, and even rest, these small steps can make a big difference in long term wellness.

At LRVNA we support women’s health at every age with services such as blood pressure screenings, maternal care, support groups, and wellness programs.

Health matters at every stage of life, which is why today’s self-care can make all the difference tomorrow.

A steady hand. A calming voice. A source of comfort during difficult moments.

Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare industry, and we celebrate your compassion and strength and all that you do for patients and families.

This week is National Nurses Week, and we want to thank all our staff, and all of the nurses around the country for the hours you put in, the sacrifices you make, and the extraordinary care you provide each and every day.

Your work changes lives, and all of us at LRVNA are so grateful for your contributions. ❤️
