This Mother's Day, we're not just celebrating one kind of mom. 🌿

We're celebrating every person who has shown up for a child with rare disease or medical complexity — not because they had to, but because they chose to, again and again.

The birth mom who fights tirelessly for answers.
The foster mom who loves fiercely in the in-between.
The grandmother, sister, aunt or friend who became the primary caregiver overnight.
The aunt, the neighbor, the chosen family member who said: I'm here.
The adoptive mom who chose this path with her whole heart.
The kinship caregiver who stepped in without hesitation.

In our community, family is built in a thousand different ways. Every single one matters. 💚

Today, Haley Brunelle, one of our Rarely Familiar co-founders spoke today at the Minnesota Capitol as part of a coalition press conference on protecting Medicaid. She joins health care leaders, providers, and advocates to highlight how proposed federal changes — including work reporting requirements under HR 1 — threaten access to care for children, families, and vulnerable Minnesotans. The coalition is calling on state policymakers to implement any new federal rules in ways that minimize harm and preserve the health care safety net that communities across Minnesota depend on.
