The Birth Network of Monterey County ishrilled to welcome Satu Larson, PhD, RN, CPNP (pronoun Satu) as our new Board Secretary.

Satu has called Santa Cruz County home for 25 years. Satu’s most transformative life experience has been giving birth to two daughters. The transition to motherhood brought deep joy, but also unexpected challenges — including loss of identity, daily migraines, and unrecognized depression and anxiety. A pivotal appointment with a licensed therapist sparked a journey of self‑love, unmasking, and gratitude that continues today.

Satu has served families as a pediatric nurse practitioner and complex care manager at Santa Cruz Community Health and now teaches as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at CSUMB’s Montage Health Helen Baszucki School of Nursing. Satu is inspired to engage with others in ways that uplift health equity, social justice, and loving kindness.

We are honored to have Satu’s voice, wisdom, and compassion on our board!
