Looking ahead, our Zoom meeting in June will be on June 23rd, 4-6:00 EDT (US/Canada). We will have guest speakers (Drs. Pellerin & Zuchner) who will discuss the research they will conduct at the University of Miami utilizing SCA27B patient-derived neurons. I am also happy to announce that our foundation will be awarding this lab $28,000 for this very important research. The goal of this research is to gain a deeper mechanistic understanding of how/why the FGF14/GAA repeat expansion causes ataxia and to identify therapeutic targets to treat SCA27B.

The NAF Ataxia Brain Tissue Donation Program has relaunched in partnership with the University of Maryland Brain and Tissue Bank, part of the NIH NeuroBioBank.

Brain donation helps researchers better understand Ataxia and move treatment development forward. Participation is open to anyone in the continental U.S. with a clinical Ataxia diagnosis, and there is no cost to register.
