Wayspring's involvement as a sponsor of MDC’s International Overdose Awareness Day is rooted in the simple fact that overdose prevention plays a powerful role in saving lives.

“Overdose impacts the individuals, families, and communities we serve every day,” the organization stated. “Every overdose prevented represents a life preserved, an opportunity for recovery, and a family kept whole.”

Wayspring strives to be the glue that keep Knoxville’s neighbors, daughters, sons, parents, coworkers, and friends alike together to tackle overdose.

“International Overdose Awareness Day is an important opportunity to bring communities together around hope, education, and action. Together, we can save lives and help more individuals find a path forward.”

Wayspring's Amanda and Triton attended The Nest - Center for Women, Children and Families Baby Shower in Lexington, Kentucky, celebrating expectant mothers with resources, support, and connection. We're grateful for partners like The Nest, who help strengthen families and provide essential support for women throughout our community, especially for our Wayspring members. Thank you for all you do!

At one point, Jacob was living without a home, grieving a devastating loss, and unsure if things would ever get better.

Today, he's celebrating his recovery alongside his wife, rebuilding relationships, and creating a future he once thought impossible.

His message to others: “There are people out there who care, even when you don’t think anybody does. Recovery is possible. Just keep going.”

During this educational session, Dr. Michael Frost, Chief Medical Officer at Wayspring, will share insights on this emerging substance, including what Medetomidine is, how it affects individuals, key signs and symptoms of overdose and withdrawal, and trends being observed in other parts of the country.
