June is National Men’s Health Month. For many men, health only becomes something to think about when there is a problem, like low energy, a decline in athletic performance, or a downturn in day-to-day quality of life. In fact, according to the Cleveland Clinic Men’s Health Survey, only about 60% of men receive annual checkups and preventive screenings. In comparison, 41% of men say they wait to see a doctor until they fear a serious medical issue.
The problem is that many of the conditions that disproportionately affect men, including cardiovascular disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms, fatty liver disease, metabolic dysfunction, and certain cancers, progress without symptoms until the disease becomes advanced. Annual checkups and screenings can catch these conditions early when they are still treatable.
Learn more about the causes of these serious health conditions, how they can silently progress, and how a comprehensive MRI exam can help men identify issues, stay active, and feel their best for years to come in our new article.
