Summer in the Pacific Northwest is my favorite time of year.

Camping, hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, gardening, concerts, festivals, trips to the coast... after months of rain, we all try to pack as much as we can into a few short months. And while it's worth it, our bodies definitely notice.

If you're dealing with sore muscles, a stiff neck, tired feet, or just need an hour to recharge, I'd love to help.

I offer therapeutic massage, relaxation massage, hot stone massage, lymphatic drainage massage, pregnancy massage, myofascial cupping, and therapeutic stretching. Every session is tailored to what your body needs that day.

There are a lot of great massage therapists in our area. What I hope clients notice about my practice is that I take the time to listen. My goal is to provide thoughtful, personalized care in a space where people feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely welcome.

I'm located just outside downtown Olympia inside the SHI Center, a quiet, professional wellness collective that's easy to find and accessible.

I also offer evening and weekend appointments because life doesn't always fit into a Monday–Friday schedule.

I hope you're having a great summer, and if your adventures leave you feeling a little worn out, I'll be here.

Somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that being busy meant we were doing something right.

We wear exhaustion like a badge of honor. We skip lunch, answer emails after hours, work through pain, and tell ourselves we'll rest when things "slow down."

The problem is, for most people, things never really slow down.

As a massage therapist, I see what that looks like in the body every day. Tight shoulders, headaches, jaw pain, stiff backs, trouble sleeping, chronic stress, and muscles that never really get a chance to relax.

Working hard isn't a bad thing. But your body needs recovery just as much as it needs productivity.

Taking a break doesn't make you lazy. Taking care of yourself isn't something you have to earn.

So if you're the kind of person who's always taking care of everyone else, consider this your reminder to take care of yourself, too.

Your body has been working hard for you. It deserves a little care in return. Book a massage.

Happy National Eat Your Beans Day!

Beans might not be the most exciting thing on your plate, but they're one of the best sources of plant-based protein and fiber around. Protein gives your muscles the building blocks they need to repair and stay strong, whether you're recovering from a workout, a long day at work, or just the wear and tear of everyday life.

Massage and good nutrition go hand in hand. Massage can help reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and support recovery, but your muscles also need the nutrients to rebuild and stay healthy. Taking care of your body isn't just one thing—it's all the little things that add up.

So if beans aren't already on your menu, today might be a good day to give them another chance.

What's your favorite brabean recipe?

July is Disability Pride Month.

Disability is a natural part of the human experience, and Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of the disability community while recognizing the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity.

At Olympia Massage Alchemy, I believe bodywork should be accessible and welcoming to as many people as possible. That means taking the time to listen, adapting sessions to each person's needs, and recognizing that every body is different.

Some of the ways I strive to support disabled clients include:
• Wheelchair-accessible treatment space
• Consent-based care with clear communication throughout each session
• Treatment plans tailored to your comfort, mobility, energy levels, and goals
• Supportive options like lymphatic drainage massage, therapeutic stretching, hot stone massage, and relaxation massage when appropriate
• A welcoming environment for people of all abilities, genders, body types, and backgrounds
• FSA/HSA accepted and superbills available for insurance reimbursement

Everyone deserves to receive care in a space where they feel respected, heard, and comfortable.

Happy Disability Pride Month! - Jakob

Tonight is the Strawberry Moon.

Despite the name, it isn't named for its color. The Strawberry Moon marks the beginning of strawberry harvest season and has long been associated with the transition into summer on the Northern Hemospisphere.

Many people also see the full moon as a time to release what no longer serves them, reflect on where they've been, and make space for what's next. Whether that's something you personally believe or simply enjoy as a ritual, I think it's a nice reminder to slow down and check in with yourself.

Massage has a lot in common with that idea. It's an opportunity to let go of some of the tension you've been carrying, quiet a busy mind, reconnect with your body, and leave feeling a little more balanced than when you arrived.

So tonight, take a deep breath. Stretch. Drink some water. Step outside and enjoy the moon if the skies are clear. Take a few minutes to reflect on where you are, what you're grateful for, and what you might be ready to let go of...such as muscle tension or stress. 😀

Wishing everyone a peaceful Strawberry Moon. 🍓🌝

I've heard from many transgender and gender-diverse people who avoid massage altogether because they don't know if they'll be safe, respected, or understood.

For some people, the biggest concern isn't the massage itself. It's worrying about being misgendered, feeling like they have to explain their body, being asked invasive questions, feeling pressured to undress more than they're comfortable with, or wondering whether a practitioner will react appropriately to scars, binders, surgery results, or the effects of hormone therapy.

At Olympia Massage Alchemy, I work to reduce as many of those barriers as possible.

Clients are always in control of what areas are worked on, how much clothing they remove, what language is used for their body, and what goals they have for their session. I use a consent-based approach and check in throughout treatment. No one should feel like they need to educate me or justify their body in order to receive care.

Everyone deserves access to healthcare and wellness services where they feel safe, respected, and welcome. That's the kind of space I strive to create every day.

Happy National Hydration Day!

Most of us know we should drink more water, but it's easy to forget why it matters.

When your body doesn't have enough water, your blood volume decreases, which means your heart has to work harder to move blood around your body. Your muscles can fatigue more quickly, your joints may feel stiffer, digestion can slow down, and headaches become more likely. Even mild dehydration can leave you feeling tired, foggy, irritable, or just "off."

During the summer, we also lose more water through sweating, especially if we're working outside, exercising, gardening, hiking, or spending time in the sun.

As a massage therapist, I often see people trying to push through fatigue, headaches, muscle cramps, and stiffness without realizing that dehydration may be playing a role.

So here's your reminder: grab a glass of water, fill up your water bottle, and take a minute to give your body what it needs.

Your kidneys, muscles, brain, skin, and joints will thank you.
