These past three days were supposed to be filled with so many fun things for Mateo. 💔 He had different events and activities planned—things he had been looking forward to for weeks. But because of his recent illness, we’ve had to cancel everything. 😭

He understands a little bit, but that doesn’t make it any easier. It absolutely breaks my heart having to tell him, “I’m sorry baby boy, we can’t go today,” when I know how excited he was. And hearing him say how sad he is because he really wanted to go, how he wishes he could’ve gone, and how he wishes he could’ve been out selling lemonade… it hurts in a way I can’t even explain. 💔

As his mommy, I wish I could make everything perfect for him. I wish I could take away every disappointment, every missed opportunity, every sick day, and every moment where he has to understand that his health has to come first. I wish he never had to miss a single thing.

He deserves to be a little boy who gets to just have fun, make memories, go to events, see his friends, and do all the things he looks forward to. And sometimes it’s so incredibly unfair that his neutropenia makes him miss out on those moments. 😭

I know there will be more events. More adventures. More lemonade days. More memories to make. But right now, my heart just hurts for my baby because I know how badly he wanted to be there.

If I could give him the whole world, I would. If I could make him never miss a thing, I would. And if I could take away every ounce of disappointment from his little heart, I would do that too. ❤️‍🩹

For now, all I can do is hold him a little tighter, remind him that it’s okay to be sad, and promise him that when he’s feeling better, we’ll make up for every missed moment we possibly can.

Mommy loves you more than words could ever explain, Mateo. You may have to miss some things, but you will never have to face any of it alone. 💚💪🏼

Update on Mateo 💚

Mateo did test positive for a virus, but thankfully his ANC was really good, which was such a huge relief! 🙏🏼💚 Because of that, we were able to be discharged and come home last night.

He’s still not feeling his best, but we’re so thankful to be recovering at home. Thank you all so much for checking on him, praying for him, and keeping our little warrior in your thoughts. 🥹💚🙏🏼

Mateo started not feeling well last night and has had a fever throughout the day, so we are currently at the ER waiting for his results and to find out what the next steps will be. 💔

Praying hard that his ANC is good enough for us to be able to go home tonight. 🙏🏼🤞🏼 Please keep my baby in your prayers and send him all the good vibes. 💚

Hoping for good news and another safe trip home. 🙏🏼

Mateo has been doing so great in school, but these past two mornings, he has been having such a hard time separating from me. 💔

He comes home so happy and excited, already looking forward to going back the next day. But when it’s time for me to leave, everything changes. He starts crying and screaming, running back to the car, and refusing to let go of me.

As his mom, every part of me wants to pick him up, hug him, and say, “Come on baby boy , Let’s just go home.” I want to make the tears stop and take away that feeling of fear and sadness.

But I know that in order for him to grow, become more independent, and be the big boy I know he can be, I have to trust his teachers and let them take over. I have to hug him, tell him I love him, remind him that I’ll be back, and then walk away—even when every part of my heart is telling me not to.

And honestly, it’s breaking me. 💔 I walk away questioning myself and wondering if I’m doing the right thing. Am I being too hard on him? Should I stay? Should I take him home?

But then I remind myself that he comes home happy. He’s excited about school. He’s learning, growing, and doing so well once I’m gone.

Maybe this is just one of the hardest parts of being a mom—learning that sometimes loving your child means letting go, even when your heart is begging you to hold on a little tighter.

So I’ll keep wiping my tears, giving him that last hug, and walking away… because I know he can do this. And one day, I know he’ll walk into that classroom without looking back. 🥹❤️

And when that day comes, I’ll be so proud of my big boy—but a tiny part of me will miss the little boy who needed his mommy to stay. ❤️

🦷🥹💙 My baby lost his very first tooth today… and my heart was NOT ready! 😭

How did we get here so fast?! One minute I was holding my tiny baby, and now I’m watching him start kindergarten, lose his first tooth and turn into such a big boy right before my eyes. 🥹

I’m so proud of the little boy he is becoming, but if I’m being honest… a tiny part of Mommy wishes I could slow time down. Just a little. 💔

No matter how big you get, how many teeth you lose, or how grown you become, you will ALWAYS be my baby. My first little love, my heart, my whole world. 💙

Here’s to your very first tooth and all the big-boy milestones still to come. 🦷✨

I’m not crying… YOU’RE CRYING. 😭😂💙

🎒💙 TODAY I HAD TO LET MY BABY GO… JUST A LITTLE. 💙🎒

Today, my baby started kindergarten. 🥹

I don’t think anyone can prepare a mom for the moment she has to stand there, let go of her child’s hand, and watch them walk into a world without her by their side.

Mateo was SO excited. He was ready. He was happy. He walked in like such a big boy, while Mommy stood there trying her hardest not to fall apart. 🥹😭

I guess I’m the nervous one. 😂❤️

This is his first time being in such a big social environment, surrounded by so many new faces, new germs, new experiences, and so many things that Mommy can’t control. And if I’m being completely honest, that scares me.

After everything we’ve been through, my mind naturally goes to his health. I worry about the things other moms might not have to think twice about. I worry when he’s around crowds. I worry about sickness. I worry about the unknown.

But today, I had to remind myself that he deserves to experience childhood too. ❤️

He deserves to make friends.
He deserves to learn.
He deserves to laugh on the playground.
He deserves to raise his little hand in class.
He deserves to be a little boy who gets excited about school.

And most importantly, he deserves to grow.

So today, I swallowed my fear, wiped my tears, and let my baby be a big boy. 🥹💙

I watched him walk away from me, and for a moment, I felt like time was moving way too fast. It feels like just yesterday I was holding him in my arms, protecting him from everything I could.

And now I’m standing here watching him take his first steps into a world of his own.

Mateo, you may not understand it now, but Mommy will always be right behind you. I may not be able to walk through every door with you, but I will always be there waiting when you come back through it. ❤️

I will pray over you before you walk into that classroom.
I will worry when you’re away from me.
I will celebrate every little accomplishment.
And I will probably cry more than you’ll ever know. 😂😭

Because no matter how big you get, you will always be my baby.

Today wasn’t just your first day of kindergarten.

Today was the day Mommy learned that sometimes loving you means being brave enough to let go… even when every part of me wants to hold on tighter. 🥹💙

I am SO proud of you, my sweet boy.

Go learn. Go play. Go make friends. Go be brave. Go be YOU.

Mommy loves you more than you will ever understand. ❤️

🎒📚💙 Happy First Day of Kindergarten, Mateo! 💙📚🎒

My little warrior. My big boy. My whole heart. 🥹💚
