We congratulate, Dr. Wendy Weber, a fellow Bastyr University graduate, in her selection to be the director of the NIH's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.

NEWS: Wendy Weber, N.D., Ph.D., has been selected to serve as director of NIH’s National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).

Dr. Weber will now oversee NCCIH’s $170 million budget which supports research that explores the fundamental science, usefulness, and safety of complementary/integrative health approaches and their roles in improving health.
Dr. Weber has served in a variety of roles since joining NIH in 2009. These include stints as acting NCCIH deputy director and acting director of the center’s extramural research division among others.

Her strategic management of clinical trials has driven real-world advancements in non-addictive pain management, such as acupuncture and mindfulness-based stress reduction.

I’m excited and honored to share that Thach Acupuncture & Functional Medicine was recently featured in 𝑭𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒂 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 discussing a major shift in our state’s healthcare landscape. After more than 60 years, Florida is moving toward licensing naturopathic medicine once again.

This is a huge step forward for patient choice and integrative care. For my patients and friends, this means more than just a title change - it is about establishing clear standards, accountability, and better access to the holistic care you deserve.

I am proud to be part of this conversation and extremely grateful for the leaders, in both the Florida Legislature and the Florida Naturopathic Physician Association, who have tirelessly advocated for this worthy cause to be in the forefront of the healthcare landscape in Florida.

📢 Advocacy Update: Florida Licensure Progress 🎉

Big news for naturopathic medicine in Florida! We are excited to share that HB223/SB688 has successfully passed floor votes in both the Florida House and Senate and is now on its way to Governor DeSantis’ desk. While we are celebrating this momentum, the bill is not yet law!

Important Note on Strategy: FNPA President Dr. Todd Robinson has asked that supporters refrain from posting about Florida licensure developments on social media at this time. The bill must be signed by the Governor before it becomes law, and this is a sensitive stage in the process.

Next Steps:
- Stay Patient: No public action is needed at this time.
- Stay Tuned: We’ll be sharing updates as they become available.
- Stay Positive: Send positive energy to the FNPA team as they navigate these final steps!
