Happy Birthday to our President, Dr. Nia Bailey!

Today, the Byrd Cancer Education and Advocacy Foundation celebrates an incredible leader, advocate, educator, and woman whose commitment to serving others reaches far beyond our organization.

Those who know Dr. Bailey know that her impact can be felt across many spaces. Whether she is advocating for patients, contributing her voice to community initiatives, mentoring others, serving in leadership, or simply showing up when she is needed, she brings the same passion and genuine care to everything she does.

At Byrd, we have the privilege of seeing that commitment firsthand.

Her leadership is an important part of who we are as an organization, but today is about more than leadership. It is about celebrating the person behind it.

Nia, we appreciate your heart for service, your dedication to the community, your willingness to share your knowledge, and the energy you continue to pour into making a difference.

We hope today you take some time to celebrate yourself and allow others to celebrate you, too.

From all of us at the Byrd Cancer Education and Advocacy Foundation, Happy Birthday, Dr. Nia Bailey!

We are grateful to have you leading Byrd, and even more grateful to have you as part of the Byrd family.

Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation is proud to share that our Founder and President, Dr. Nia Imani Bailey, DPA, M.A.Ed., RT(T), will be speaking at the Soulstice Summit in Philadelphia!

Dr. Bailey will lead the Fireside Chat, “Why Clinical Trials Are More Than ‘Clinical,’” bringing an important community perspective to the conversation around clinical research, healthcare, representation, access, and advocacy.

For Byrd, conversations about clinical trials cannot stop at the science. Communities deserve to understand their options, see themselves represented in research, have access to opportunities, and have their voices included in conversations that directly impact their health.

We are incredibly proud to see Dr. Bailey bring this conversation to the Soulstice Summit.

August is National Make a Will Month, a reminder that planning for the future is one of the most meaningful gifts you can leave your loved ones.

A cancer diagnosis or any unexpected life event can change everything in an instant. While no one likes to think about difficult conversations, creating a will helps ensure your wishes are honored, your loved ones are protected, and important decisions aren't left to chance.

Estate planning is about more than finances. It's about preserving your legacy, protecting your family, and giving yourself peace of mind.

At Byrd Cancer Foundation, we believe cancer advocacy extends beyond screenings, treatment, and survivorship. It also means connecting our community with trusted resources that help individuals and families prepare for every stage of life.

That's why we partner with organizations like Rheal Urban to provide education and access to professionals who can help our community navigate important topics such as wills, estate planning, and legacy planning. These conversations empower people to make informed decisions before they are faced with a crisis.

This National Make a Will Month, we encourage you to:
• Create or update your will.
• Review your healthcare directives and powers of attorney.
• Talk with your loved ones about your wishes.
• Reach out to a qualified estate planning professional if you don't know where to begin.

Planning ahead isn't about expecting the worst. It's about caring for the people you love and ensuring your voice is heard for years to come.

Have you created your will, or is it still on your to do list?
