Biltmore Ear, Nose & Throat

Biltmore Ear, Nose & Throat Biltmore Ear, Nose & Throat was founded in 1972 to provide uncompromising patient care for all of your otolaryngology needs.

That is still our mission today, and the reason why more area physicians trust us to care for their patients.

Ask people what they remember about a good appointment and they rarely bring up the diagnosis. They bring up the fact that someone actually listened.

Patricia Sullivan is a physician assistant here at Biltmore ENT with about 15 years of experience, and that is the part patients mention again and again. She asks real questions, explains what she is seeing in plain language, and never makes you feel like she is already halfway out the door.

If you have a sinus issue, an ear problem, or something you have been meaning to get checked for months now, she makes the whole thing feel a lot less like a chore.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Biltmore ENT.

Today is a thank-you to the people who keep everything running, and a rare, officially sanctioned excuse to do absolutely nothing. After the summer Phoenix just had, we would say that is well earned.

Whether today looks like a backyard cookout, one more afternoon at the pool, or a very slow morning with coffee, we hope you get a real break out of it. Enjoy the long weekend.

By September, your week has a shape again. School pickups, the same drive to work, Saturday games, the grocery run you could do with your eyes closed. Most of us end up living along a handful of familiar routes.

That is exactly why we have offices in Arcadia, Goodyear, Queen Creek, Arrowhead, Mesa, Tempe, Downtown Phoenix, and Scottsdale. There is a good chance one of them sits near somewhere you already drive every week, which means seeing an ENT does not have to mean building your whole day around the trip.

Same physicians, same standard of care, just closer to the way your week actually runs.

Your ear feels full and plugged, so you reach for a cotton swab. Ten minutes later it somehow feels worse.

There is a reason for that. Swabs tend to push wax further down and pack it against the eardrum, which is the opposite of what you were going for. Earwax itself is normal and usually clears out on its own, but some people simply produce more than they can clear. That is when you get the fullness, the muffled hearing, and sometimes a bit of ringing.

At home, a damp cloth around the outside of the ear is about as far as you should go, and over-the-counter drops can help soften things up. If it still feels blocked, we can remove it safely in the office, and it usually takes just a few minutes.

A grown-up snoring is one thing. A five-year-old snoring loudly every single night, sleeping with their mouth open, tossing and turning, then dragging themselves to the breakfast table cranky and foggy is worth paying attention to.

Loud, regular snoring in children can be linked to enlarged tonsils or adenoids. When it disrupts sleep night after night, it can quietly affect focus, mood, and behavior right as the school year is ramping up.

If bedtime in your house comes with a soundtrack, an evaluation can help identify what is behind it and what to do about it.

Most people file allergies under spring and forget about them by summer. In Phoenix, that is only half the story.

Monsoon humidity feeds mold, and late-summer weeds like ragweed start picking up right about now. So if you have spent August congested, sneezing, and rubbing itchy eyes while telling yourself it is just a lingering cold, allergies may be the real answer.

The good news is you do not have to guess. Testing can pinpoint exactly what is setting you off, and a personalized plan can help you feel like yourself again.

The classrooms and daycares fill back up this month, and so do the germs that circulate in them. For younger kids, late summer and fall is when middle ear infections tend to climb.

Little ones do not always say their ear hurts. The signs parents usually catch first:
• Tugging or pulling at one ear
• Trouble sleeping or extra fussiness
• A fever that appears out of nowhere
• Turning up the volume or asking "what?" more than usual

Ear infections often clear on their own, but ones that keep coming back are worth a closer look, especially before they interfere with the new school year.

Here is the honest truth about specialist care: the appointment you keep putting off is usually the one that is inconvenient to get to. When you are already tired and uncomfortable, a drive across the Valley is one more reason to wait.

So we did not build one flagship office. Biltmore ENT is in Arcadia, Goodyear, Queen Creek, Arrowhead, Mesa, Tempe, Downtown Phoenix, and Scottsdale, close to where your work, your kids, and your actual week already are.

Same physicians. Same standard of care. Just close enough that you finally go.

You stand up too fast on a 112-degree afternoon and for a second the room slides sideways. Most of the time it passes and you blame the heat, which is fair. Dehydration is everywhere in a Phoenix August, and it can absolutely leave you lightheaded.

But dizziness that keeps coming back, or a spinning feeling that lingers, is worth a second look. Your inner ear plays a big role in balance, and when something there is off, no amount of water fixes it.

If the room has been tilting more than it should lately, an evaluation can help sort out what is behind it.

There is a moment audiologists see all the time. Someone puts on a properly fitted hearing solution, the room comes back, and they go quiet because they did not realize how much they had been missing.

Dr. Aryannah Adam is an audiologist at Biltmore ENT, and that moment is the whole point of her work. She takes the time to actually explain what she finds, walks through the options without rushing, and builds a plan around your life rather than a one-size-fits-all fix.

Hearing changes are easy to brush off and easy to live around. Having someone patient and thorough in your corner makes the first step a lot less daunting.
