We take a special interest in our 65 and older Veteran population. We will ensure our Veterans are in a safe environment and can help them find suitable housing based on their needs. We will also ensure our Veterans are receiving the care they need. If we discover Veterans are losing their ability to take care of themselves, we will explore additional care in their home. We can also coordinate add

itional medical equipment needed (oxygen, bed, wheelchair, walker, shower chair, etc). Once our Veterans are in a safe environment and they have the medical care they need, we will assist them apply for the benefits they have earned. We will assist Veterans with VA enrollment, appointments, pension, disability, and compensation claims.

We don't wear Veteran caps to impress people. We wear them to find each other.

A Veteran cap is more than a symbol of service, it’s a signal. It helps Veterans recognize one another, start conversations, and build connections that can make a real difference.

Many of the challenges in our Veteran community are best addressed through conversation and connection. Sometimes a simple question like, "Where did you serve?" can lead to friendship, support, or encouragement when it's needed most.

Wear your cap proudly. You never know whose day you might brighten or what meaningful connection might begin with a simple conversation.

Minimizing barriers to Veterans’ care on RED Shirt Friday!

Army Vietnam Veteran and Veterans Affinity volunteer Doug Leach recently visited Veterans at The Palms at Sun City senior living community to provide hands-on assistance with VA paperwork and benefits support.

After The Palms reached out requesting assistance for their Veteran residents, Doug visited and supported them by helping with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) enrollment applications, Intent to File submissions, and Pre-Need Eligibility applications for VA burial benefits, ensuring they had guidance through key VA processes and access to available benefits.

A huge thank you to Doug for continuing to serve his fellow Veterans with compassion and dedication. He made sure every Veteran felt seen, heard, supported, and remembered. Doug’s dedication to duty reflects the commitment we share to honoring those who served our country and ensuring they receive the care and benefits they have earned.

We had a wonderful donut social this morning with our Veterans and their Families at Haven Health Sky Harbor senior community in Phoenix, Arizona.

It was a morning filled with smiles, laughter, appreciation, and meaningful connection. Moments like these remind us how important it is to come together, build community, and celebrate the Veterans and loved ones who have given so much in service to our country.

We shared meaningful conversations with Veterans in long-term care, listening to their stories, reflecting on their service, and even sharing a few laughs along the way. Their sacrifice and resilience continue to inspire us and strengthen our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Elita Russell and the dedicated team at Haven Health Sky Harbor for their unwavering support. We are also deeply grateful to our volunteers for their steadfast commitment to serving Veterans in need.

Special pre-screening of the Pressure Film with the Veterans Affinity Team.

One team-One mission. True story about the 72-hour meteorological build-up to the D-Day invasion. Great film.

Grateful to Alison Frost and Frost Communications for considering our team and inviting us to be part of such a special evening.

We had another great breakfast this morning with our Veteran seniors at Fellowship Square in Mesa, Arizona.

Men and women came together through shared stories and experiences, finding laughter and joy in even the simplest moments. We also heard from Veterans who had recently returned home from Honor Flights. Their stories served as a powerful reminder of the bonds that unite us and the strength we find through connection.

We discussed the true meaning of Memorial Day, the importance of supporting and accounting for our isolated Veterans, and the value of staying active and connected. We also talked about the tradition of wearing Veteran caps, not only to recognize and connect with fellow Veterans, but, as one Veteran humorously put it, “Veteran caps are great for covering a bald head!’”

Special thanks to the Fellowship Square team for creating a welcoming space where our Veterans could connect over a meal. We’re also grateful to our dedicated volunteers for helping our Veteran seniors feel seen, heard, and remembered.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who served and gave everything for our freedom.

May we prove, through how we live, that their sacrifice was not in vain.

Honor them. Respect them. Never forget them.

We had a great RED Shirt Friday Veteran’s social this morning at the Mesa Buckhorn Elks in Mesa, Arizona.

Over coffee and donuts, Veterans bonded as they swapped stories, shared memories, and strengthened connections forged through shared experiences. Along the way, we also heard plenty of candid, and hilarious, “oh crap” moments from their time in service.

We discussed how wearing a Veteran cap can create opportunities for connection, fellowship, and recognition within the community. It often sparks conversations with fellow Veterans and appreciative citizens in everyday places, fostering camaraderie and shared respect, while some businesses may also offer small gestures of appreciation in gratitude for military service.

Many thanks to Janet and John Lacerda and the Elks Lodge for hosting our morning social. We appreciate their commitment to our Veteran seniors and their families. We also extend our gratitude to Air Force Veteran George Rinard for leading the discussion and encouraging everyone to participate. George made sure everyone felt seen, heard, supported, and remembered.
