After presenting on three times nationally over the past year, my biggest message is this: be mindful of how we use artificial intelligence.

AI has tremendous potential to transform healthcare and improve lives, but it also comes with environmental costs that often go unnoticed. The energy and resources required to power these technologies have real-world impacts, and it’s important that we approach innovation responsibly.

I encourage you to check out our publication, where we discuss both the opportunities and challenges of AI in healthcare, including how we can advocate for thoughtful implementation and ensure that vulnerable communities are not disproportionately burdened by its consequences.

There is still so much to learn about AI. As healthcare professionals, leaders, and citizens, we have a responsibility to stay informed, ask important questions, and use these tools with intention.

Awareness is the first step. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/15598276261449784
