Maybe you just miss her.
Maybe you wish things were different.
Maybe you love her deeply, but your body still tightens around her.
Maybe you have spent years trying to understand her, forgive her, protect her or become nothing like her.
Our relationship with our mother can shape how we receive love, respond to conflict, ask for help and allow ourselves to be cared for.
This is not always about blame.
Sometimes it is simply about noticing what your body has been carrying—and deciding what you are ready to meet differently.
How does your relationship with your mom show up in your body?

The body is not always asking to be fixed.
Sometimes it is asking to be heard.
Pain can be a messenger, pointing toward an old pattern, an unfinished experience, or a place that has carried too much for too long.
When we meet the body with curiosity instead of fear, healing becomes less about silencing the symptom—and more about understanding the story beneath it.

It’s one of the questions we hear most.
The body doesn’t always organize symptoms the way we expect. Sometimes the area asking for attention isn’t the area creating the most tension.
That doesn’t mean pain is “all connected” or that there’s always one hidden root cause — but it does mean looking only where it hurts can miss part of the picture.
We assess patterns, movement, compensation, and connection — not just the loudest symptom.
Have you ever had relief show up somewhere you weren’t expecting?

Most of us think pain begins the day we notice it.

But the body is far more patient than we are.

Before it ever sends a pain signal, it often spends weeks, months, or even years adapting. One joint works a little harder. Another muscle tightens to protect you. A new movement pattern quietly becomes your normal.

That's why the place that hurts isn't always the place that needs the most attention.

At Ke Kino, we're interested in more than today's symptoms. We want to understand the story your body has been telling all along—because lasting change starts by addressing the pattern, not just the pain.

If you've been treating the same area over and over without lasting relief, maybe it's time to ask a different question.

Not just, ""Where does it hurt?""

But, ""Where did this story begin?""

Earlier this year, Ke Kino welcomed Etienne Peirsman and his wife for an eight-day immersion centered on birth, dying and the experiences the body carries between the two.

Alongside John James, our students and therapists were invited to look beyond technique—to better understand what their own bodies had lived through, how those experiences shape the way they show up, and how this philosophy can be applied with greater awareness in the treatment room.

This kind of education matters because the person working with your body should understand that healing is rarely only physical. Your history, your nervous system and your internal world all come with you.

At Ke Kino, our practitioners continue learning how to meet the whole person—not just the symptom. If you have been looking for thoughtful, deeply informed bodywork in Plano, we invite you to call or book online.

Your body is remarkably resourceful.
Every day, it makes thousands of tiny adjustments without you ever noticing.
It shifts weight.
Redistributes tension.
Protects injured areas.
Finds new ways to keep you moving.
Most of the time, that's a gift.
But when those temporary adaptations become permanent habits, your body may begin asking more of one area than it was designed to handle.
That's one reason pain doesn't always appear where the story began.
Fascia is one of the systems that helps make these adaptations possible. It connects, supports, and transfers forces throughout the body, allowing movement to feel coordinated rather than isolated.
Sometimes what feels like the problem is actually the body doing its best to solve one.
At Ke Kino, we believe the body isn't your opponent.
More often than not, it's trying to help.

Think of it this way:

Massage is a technique. Bodywork is an approach.

A massage therapist might work directly on tight or sore muscles to reduce tension and help you feel better. Bodywork can use massage too, but it may also look at things like movement, fascia, scar tissue, posture, breathing, and how one area may be affecting another.

For example, if your shoulder keeps hurting, a massage might focus on the shoulder and surrounding muscles.

A bodywork session might also ask:

* Is your neck contributing?
* Is your rib cage moving well?
* Is there an old injury changing how you move?
* Are you compensating somewhere else?

That’s not mystical. It’s basically looking at the body as a mechanical system instead of treating one sore spot in isolation.

"Your body is constantly adapting.
Breathing patterns, digestion, stress, posture, surgeries, old injuries—even emotions—can influence how your body organizes tension.
That’s why sometimes treating the place that hurts doesn’t create lasting change.
Visceral Manipulation is a gentle hands-on approach that looks at how movement inside the abdomen may affect the rest of the body. The goal isn’t to “move organs back into place”—it’s to explore whether restrictions, guarding, or lack of mobility could be contributing to the bigger picture.
People are often surprised to learn that abdominal restrictions may show up as:
• Neck tension
• Rib discomfort
• Low back tightness
• Shallow breathing
• Pelvic discomfort
• A feeling of never fully relaxing
The body is connected. Sometimes the source isn’t where the symptoms appear.
Curious if this approach could support your healing? Come experience an assessment at Ke Kino.

Maybe you’ve always been the person people come to.

The one who listens. The one who notices when something feels off. The one whose presence helps others feel safe.

At Ke Kino Massage School, those natural qualities become the foundation for a meaningful career. You’ll learn how to work with the body through hands-on training, deepen your understanding of healing, and develop the confidence to support others with skill and intention.

You may already have the heart of a healer. Now it’s time to learn the work.

"Most people think healing starts by doing more.
Breathe deeper.
Stretch harder.
Relax more.
Try another technique.
But what if healing doesn't begin with effort?
What if it begins with permission?
The inhale prepares your body.
The exhale is where your body has the opportunity to release.
Not because breathing is a magic solution, but because letting go is something the nervous system allows when it begins to feel safe.
That's why our work isn't about forcing muscles to relax.
It's about creating an environment where your body no longer feels like it has to hold on.
Sometimes the biggest shift doesn't happen when you try harder.
It happens on the exhale.
