St. Lucie RISE

St. Lucie RISE St. Lucie RISE Mental Health Collaborative is a Roundtable of St. Lucie County initiative. Lucie RISE – Mental Health Collaborative! The Roundtable of St.

Lucie County has been awarded the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Strategic Prevention Framework-Partnership for Success Grant (SPF-PFS) for $375,000 per year for 5 years through 2028 to launch the St. Lucie RISE Mental Health Collaborative under its umbrella. The purpose of this grant program is to help communities work collaboratively to reduce the onset and pr

ogression of substance misuse and its related problems by supporting the development and delivery of community substance misuse prevention and mental health promotion services. The SPF-PFS program is grounded in the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a data-driven community engagement model grounded in public health principles focused on providing evidence-based services to high-risk and underserved communities. Consistent with the Roundtable’s mission, this grant will enhance our mission to sustain a team of county and business leaders who mobilize resources to improve the education, health, safety, nutrition, and care of all children in St. Lucie County. Local Substance Abuse Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Strategies

Designed to strengthen our community-level prevention capacity to identify and respond to local substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion priorities for high-risk and underserved communities, the St. Lucie RISE Strategic Prevention Partnership is a county-wide initiative designed to implement a comprehensive mix of evidenced-based prevention approaches and services that align with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) expectations to implement high-quality programs, practices, and policies that are recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and equity-based as a means of improving behavioral health in St. Our partner agencies and collaboratives, businesses, and community advocates will work collectively to address root causes that lead to increased risk for youth substance misuse and mental health challenges. This funding will specifically be utilized to establish a Mental Health Collaborative, made up of community stakeholders, to identify and respond to ongoing behavioral health needs for our community and to oversee the delivery of community-wide Teen Mental Health First-Aid training, support the development of Pediatric Integrated Care access through primary care providers, support the delivery of Functional Family Therapy to underserved communities, and to promote community-wide trauma-informed care approaches. In addition, funding will provide additional support to Drug Free St. Lucie currently funded by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Center for Disease Control, to expand its substance abuse prevention efforts through the implementation of youth-led Social Norms and Mental Health awareness campaigns. Under the umbrella of the Roundtable, the Mental Health Collaborative and Drug Free St. Lucie will be a force multiplier to improve behavioral health outcomes for youth and families in our community.

Su***de prevention starts with all of us. 💜🩵

Every conversation, every check-in, and every effort to create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and connected can make a difference.

This ***dePreventionMonth, we’re reminded that prevention isn’t the responsibility of just one person or organization—it takes all of us working together to build a community where people know they matter and feel supported in reaching out when they need help.

💜 Connection is su***de prevention.

A conversation. A check-in. A safe space to be honest. A reminder that someone matters and doesn’t have to carry everything alone. These moments of connection can be more powerful than we realize.

This Su***de Prevention Month, let’s commit to building communities where people feel seen, heard, supported, and connected—because when we grow connection, we grow hope. And where there is hope, there is possibility. 💜

Check in. Reach out. Stay connected. You never know how much your presence may mean to someone.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. 💜🩵

As we begin , take time to learn the warning signs of su***de—not only for the people in your life, but for yourself, too.

Changes in mood, sleep, or behavior, withdrawing from others, or talking about having no reason to live can be signs that someone may be struggling. Knowing what to look for can help us recognize when it’s time to reach out, check in, and connect someone with support.

Learn more about the warning signs from SAMHSA: samhsa.gov/mental-health/suicidal-behavior/warning-signs

Throughout this month, let’s continue to remind one another that support is available, conversations matter, and no one has to struggle alone. 💜

Taking care of your mental health is nothing to apologize for. 💚

Setting boundaries, taking a break, asking for help, saying “no,” or simply giving yourself the space you need are all valid ways to protect your well-being.

Consider this your reminder: you’re allowed to prioritize your mental health—no apology necessary. 🙂‍↔️✨

August is Substance Use Primary Prevention Month!

Prevention starts long before substance use begins. It starts with creating safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive, strengthening families, addressing trauma, supporting healthy social and emotional development, and making evidence-based prevention resources accessible in our communities.

And there’s encouraging news: most young people ages 12–17 are choosing not to use alcohol, ni****ne, or illicit drugs. By continuing to invest in prevention and protective factors, we can help even more youth make healthy choices and reduce the likelihood of substance use later in life.

Together, our families, schools, organizations, and community partners can continue building a St. Lucie County where young people have the support and opportunities they need to thrive. 💜

A huge thank you to Monique Robbins for facilitating our recent Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training! 🧡

We are so grateful for her time, expertise, and commitment to equipping members of our community with the skills and knowledge to better recognize and respond when a young person may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

Thank you, Monique, for helping us continue building a more informed, prepared, and supportive community for our youth! 🧡

We’ve been so excited to join our community for this year’s Kids at Hope SLC Tunnels of Hope!

There’s something powerful about showing up for our young people and reminding them that their community is behind them. As the school year continues, we encourage our community to keep showing up and cheering them on—letting our local youth know that we believe in their potential and know they are capable of success this year and beyond.

Every child is capable of success—NO EXCEPTIONS! 🌟🙌

Last week’s St. Lucie RISE meeting was all about listening, learning, and planning for what’s next!

We were grateful to hear directly from our community partners as we explored gaps in our community and identified potential priority areas for the Collaborative to focus on moving forward. The thoughtful feedback and perspectives shared will help guide our work as we continue building on our collective efforts to support youth mental health and well-being in St. Lucie County.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the conversation! We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to seeing everyone again in September. 💜

🎒🧡 Week one: complete!

The first week of school can bring a little bit of everything — excitement, nerves, new routines, new faces and plenty of adjustments.

As the weekend begins, this is a great time to check in with the young people in your life. Instead of just asking, “How was school?” try:

💬 What was the best part of your first week?
💬 Was anything harder than you expected?
💬 Who did you enjoy spending time with?
💬 Is there anything you’re worried about going into next week?
💬 What can I do to support you?

And remember: not every conversation needs an immediate solution. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen, validate and let them know we're there. 🧡

Here’s to a restful weekend and a great Week 2, St. Lucie County!
