I appreciate KTVZ for giving me the opportunity to sit down and answer questions from Oregonians about my work, thoughts and race for the United States Senate. KTVZ offered multiple dates in September and October for a live debate with Senator Merkley, however as you will watch, Jeff Merkley feels he’s above having a live televised question and answer debate.

Frankly, I don’t blame him as I wouldn’t want to debate me either, especially where he would have to defend his record, and how he has helped lead Oregon to last in almost every metric from affordability to education.

It has been my privilege and honor to help residents for over twenty years of public service. From City Council, School Board, Chamber of Commerce President, County Commissioner, State Representative, to current State Senator; with so much more in between, I’ve always strived to put Oregonians, our residents, their communities and the businesses that support them first.

So you may take exception, as many have, to Jeff Merkley’s arrogant response to declining to debate.
