Massage is a general term for pressing, rubbing and manipulating your skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Massage therapists typically use their hands and fingers for massage but may also use their forearms, elbows and even feet. There are many different types of massage, including these common types:

Swedish massage. This is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you. Deep-tissue massage. This massage technique uses slower, more forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries. Sports massage. This is similar to Swedish massage but is geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries. Trigger point massage. I am still going through chemo. My last treatment will be Oct 28th which will mark a year and a half of chemo.

My family moved to Florida 4 1/2 years ago from South Dakota. I am married with two children ages 7 and 9 and dog. I am a Human Resources Specialist with the VA and have been working for them for 12 years. Some of my hobbies are reading, spending time with my family in our pool, at the beach, or on our boat, riding horses, cruising, and all things sport’s!! We enjoy the outdoors. I also like hanging out with friends and I love all kinds of music so going to concerts is a lot of fun! I am hoping to get back to all of these activities and more once I am done with chemo. It’s been a long hard journey but I’ve been blessed and have had God and tons of support through family, friends, and this community.
