Knowledge stored in your mind—or sitting untouched on a shelf—is like a battery holding a charge. The potential is there, but nothing changes until you flip the switch.

Knowing what supports your health is a beginning. Applying it—gently, imperfectly, and consistently—is what creates change.

You don’t have to apply everything you know today. Simply choose one small thing and put it into practice.

What is one thing you already know that you’re ready to begin applying?

Welcome to the chairs where so many meaningful conversations begin. 🤍

Sometimes you’ll be sitting across from me. Sometimes you’ll be on a Zoom screen. And sometimes you’ll simply be here, reading a post that speaks to exactly what you needed that day.

No matter how we connect, my goal is the same: to create a place where you feel heard, supported, and encouraged as you build a healthier, more vibrant life.

This little corner has become my place to teach, listen, encourage, and dream alongside the people I serve. Together, we’ll celebrate victories, navigate challenges, and take one step at a time toward lasting health and well-being.

Welcome. There’s always a seat for you here. 🌿

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your health is stop making it so complicated.

I’m Coach Laura, and around here you’ll find realistic health and wellness advice that fits into real life—not perfection.

If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to start, this is your reminder…

Just start. ❤️

We wrapped up two full days of events this weekend… and I am exhausted.

Both days I wore my compression socks, had my neck wrap, had help setting up and tearing down, and made sure to alternate between sitting and standing.

Between coaching and vendor events, I’m also a mom, a wife, a friend, a pet owner, and somehow still trying to keep a household running.

All while working on my physical and mental health.

What you may not know about me—or maybe you do if you’ve been following for a while—is that I have hEDS.

I was born with a rotated hip and had to learn to walk differently than most kids. I bruised constantly, had some pretty impressive mobility party tricks, and to this day I can turn my feet almost completely in both directions and still proudly pop my hip like it’s the 80s. 🤣

After Lyme disease, I developed dysautonomia, along with several other post-Lyme complications.

Before all of that, I survived two pulmonary embolisms, an emergency gallbladder removal, and a hysterectomy.

So yeah… at 42, my body has been through a lot. 🤣

That’s why I’ve stopped feeling guilty for resting.

Sometimes rest doesn’t look Instagram-worthy.

Sometimes it looks like a messy room, my girls curled up beside me, swollen legs, compression socks, and giving my body permission to recover.

And yes, those dark rings around my ankles are stained skin from years of blood pooling. I’ve had them since I was a teenager. That’s part of living with hEDS.

You don’t have to earn rest by collapsing.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is listen to your body before it forces you to.

Yes, you could have.
Should have.
Would have.

Stop shoulding all over yourself.

You can’t change yesterday.
You do get a say in today.

Make today the day that changes the rest of your life. ❤️

A little behind the scenes while I get ready for tomorrow QFCA in Quakertown…

Something has been evolving over here.

For years, Strength In Self has been both coaching and products. But as both have grown, I’ve realized they each deserve their own space.

So, we’re beginning the transition.

🌿 The Self Care Cabinet is becoming the home for all of the handcrafted wellness products, self-care essentials, and vendor events.

💚 Strength In Self will continue to be where coaching, education, workshops, and building sustainable health habits live.

Same heart. Same mission. Just two different ways of helping people care for themselves.

Also… can we take a minute to appreciate my new sign?! 😍 I absolutely love how it turned out. Huge thank you to my neighbors, Kyle Johnson and Tara Landis Johnson , for making it! They do engraving and 3D printing. They absolutely knocked it out of the park. I seriously have the best neighbors. ❤️

Now it’s back to packing products, loading displays, and getting everything ready for tomorrow at QFCA in Quakertown. If you’re there, stop by, say hello, and check out the new setup—I can’t wait to share it with you!

Say you saw this post and you might just get a free gift 😉

When we make sauce, every batch gets one of two labels:

❤️ Love
or
🚫 No Love

“No Love” doesn’t mean the sauce is bad.

It means it was rushed.
We didn’t slow down enough to listen to what it needed.
We didn’t adjust.
We weren’t fully present.

It’s still good.
We’ll still use it.

But the batches labeled Love are different.

They’re the ones we stayed with.
We tasted.
We adjusted.
We gave the sauce the time it needed instead of the time we wanted it to take.

And there’s one more ingredient…

We make those batches together.

With someone who cares about the outcome just as much as I do.

I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

People are a lot like sauce.

When we rush ourselves, ignore our needs, criticize every mistake, or surround ourselves with people who don’t care enough to help us grow, we become our own “No Love” batch.

Still worthy.
Still valuable.
But not given the care we deserved.

When we slow down, show ourselves grace, adjust instead of judge, and invite people into our lives who genuinely care about us becoming our best…

That love begins to show.

Not because we became someone different,
but because we finally gave ourselves—and accepted from others—the care we needed all along.

Remember to give yourself the time you deserve to become the person you want to be ❤️
