I really enjoyed this mixed pace workout. Nice variety, fun to run fast, then lock into race pace.
Enjoyed the Saucony Endorphin Azura for this snappy workout. Curious to try this one in a longer run.
Most importantly, did I mention fun? 🤩☀️👟🩵

My races this fall are mostly about moving intentionally toward London next spring. Keeping it interesting, staying focused, enjoying the journey and having fun! 🤩☀️👟🩵

Three weeks into the Garmin Coach plan and I’m out.
Sort of 😉
I pulled up a 10k plan that has worked well for me, and I’m going to add elements of the Garmin plan that make sense.
Today’s workout was 8x intervals at 5K pace. Felt amazing! 🤩
Added hill repeats from the Garmin plan to round out the session ✅
I’m sure Garmin will have some “feedback” for me, but you can’t please everyone, right? 🤷🏻‍♀️
This workout made me very happy! Even on tired legs after a day at the store, even with the heat. ☀️👟🩵

Another speed workout, goal pace repeats with a magic mile thrown in.
Which was fine.
I was glad to repeat this one after the technical difficulties last week. But back to back speed workouts make little sense, and this isn’t like any of the many Galloway training programs I’ve followed over the last 15 years.
I’m not impressed.
I made some adjustments and had a really good run! And I’m glad to have the experience and coaching background to know when a plan is heading me for trouble.
In the end, I got what I needed from this workout, but the “plan” really does a disservice to the Galloway legacy. 💙💚

I was uncertain about this workout. That’s really understating the case.
I rescheduled it from Saturday because I was exhausted from Friday.
🥱
I slept in this morning because I was exhausted from Saturday.
😴
I needed that rest, and I recovered well, but also by the time I got moving it was already HOT 🥵
I’d thought about going to the track for this 8 x 800 workout, but it was just too sunny. I’ve got a nice shady option here at home.
☀️
I was negotiating with myself about those 8 reps during the warm up. Then I took myself out far enough on my route that I was going to hit 5. Then 6 on the way back home.

Let me tell you, 3 or 4/8 always looks daunting, but once I get to 5 or 6, no way I’m quitting!!
Especially since I’d landed myself a mile from home at that point in my workout. The faster I ran, the sooner I’d be done!

I’ve been doing low HR training pretty much exclusively since March, allowing my knee to recover. Today I finally got into a higher intensity, and holding pace for 800m is a challenge for me. I was pretty pleased with myself for sticking with it!
💪🏼
I’m always negotiating with myself, especially on a daunting workout. Fortunately, I always make sure that I win 🤩👟🩵

Such a fun and exciting night in the Raleigh running community last night at the Sir Walter Miler!!
Fun and games before the start, loved seeing so many friends! 🩵
The races were 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Margot Appleton won in 4:24:45 and the event set the record for the most women to run under 4:30 in a single mile race with 11 women soaring into that finish!
Carmen Adler set a national record for Ecuador with her 4:26:13 mile! 🇪🇨

Hobbs Kessler for the win in 3:51.86
Abe Alvarado finished 2nd and lowers his own Mexican record in the men’s mile to 3:51.95, 🇲🇽
All of this history being made at the track right here in Raleigh!!
I’m fully exhausted and the only running I did was to catch the start of the men’s open mile to see Jeffrey Knox fly!!! 🔥
