🎙️ Coming soon: I recently joined Sam J Frentzas on the Driving Force podcast by VMA Spinal Imaging to discuss a topic at the intersection of medicine and law, the role of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in personal injury cases, and the Closed Loop model of care.

We covered:
🔹 When SCS is the right option for patients with persistent pain after traumatic injury
🔹 How documentation strengthens both clinical decision-making and medical-legal defensibility
🔹 Why the Closed Loop model — urgent care → clinic → ASC — gets injured patients evaluated and treated in days, not months, with every step coordinated under one clinical team.

Thank you to the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience ASPN committee for the invitation to speak in Miami. ASPN continues to be the premier meeting for science, research, innovation, and practice management in pain medicine and I was honored to contribute.

One of my talks focused on the United Pain Urgent Care model and how it strengthens our hand at the negotiating table with payers. I call it the Closed Loop: from pain urgent care to clinic to ASC. From acute to chronic. From minimally invasive treatment to surgery all within one structure.

When you control the full continuum of care, you bring real leverage to payer negotiations: earlier patient capture, documented outcomes, and dramatically lower total cost of care. In fact, a payer’s own claims analysis matching our CPT and ICD-10 data against ER visits for the same diagnoses found ER care cost roughly 5.5x more than treatment in our pain urgent care. When the payer runs the numbers themselves, the case makes itself. After running this model for the past several years, we understand its value better than ever.
