This year marks our 5th Annual Adult Campout in partnership with Beyond Boundaries and Camp Hanover! What started off as a new program in 2022 has become a beloved tradition for many of our participants.

Each year is a choose your own adventure - from swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking, to arts and crafts, games, or simply reading and enjoying time in nature, there is something for everyone. Whether this is your first time attending or you've been here from the start, you'll find community here!

Our adult campout participants were featured in an episode of “Life in the Heartland” with VPM. The episode “Autism in Rural Virginia: Breaking Barriers, Finding Identity, and Building Community” recently won a Silver Telly Award for Documentary, and is nominated for a Regional Emmy!

Belmont Rec Center turned into a boogie wonderland for our May Adult Social 🕺DJ Captain Kirk brought the tunes, and our participants brought the moves for our highly-anticipated annual dance party. We had a blast out on the dance floor with everyone, and ended the night with some good old-fashioned karaoke 🎤

We had a blast at our recent teen and adult meetups at Pelagos VR! Through the magic of virtual reality, Participants were immersed in different worlds, from battling zombies and pirates to getting up close and personal with zoo wildlife and exploring art museums, there was an experience for everyone!

We're grateful to the Pelagos VR team for their thoughtful adaptations, addition of new experiences, and warm hospitality, making sure each participant can engage!

We’re excited to share that ASCV has been awarded the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth - VFHY Healthy Communities Action Team grant! This three-year investment will support the development and expansion of programming focused on increasing access to healthy food, physical activity, and overall wellness for our community.

As part of this work, Director of Teen & Adult Programs, Jon Greene, and Youth Programs Manager, Michaela Richmond attended the 2026 VFHY Champions for Youth Summit in Reston, VA.

Over three days, they connected with partners from across Virginia and beyond, explored new ideas, and gained practical strategies to better support youth and families. From inspiring keynote speakers to engaging breakout sessions on topics like nutrition, coalition-building, and youth engagement, the summit reinforced the importance of centering youth voices and building strong, collaborative communities.

We’re excited to carry this momentum forward—using what we learned to help guide our Healthy Communities Action Team efforts and continue building a healthier, more connected community.
