Ahead of our two-year anniversary tomorrow, 9/9, we need to take a minute to talk about our coaches.
Because Copper City Fitness would not be what it is without them.
Every single one of them brings something different to this team, but they all have one thing in common: they treat CCF like it’s theirs. They show up with an owner mentality. They make decisions, solve problems, bring ideas, push us to be better, and most importantly, they show up every day ready to make a difference in someone’s life.
…And somehow, they managed to completely surprise us the other day.
Tiffany coached the 5pm class and Erin was coaching CrossFit immediately after. One by one, our coaches started showing up with weird reasons why they were there. Felt similar to a flash mob 🤣 then around the corner they came with an enormous box- how we didn’t even see this thing in our building is beyond me!
They all secretly pitched in and bought CCF another Concept2 rower — something that will make our programming even better and something we are SO grateful for. We are so prideful that everything we have in the gym, we own outright. No debt, no loans. We strive to keep our membership costs low even if that means digging into our personal pockets, too. As owners, we have never taken a paycheck from CCF. We pour everything we have back into the business. Our coaches did this huge gesture by purchasing for us an expensive piece of equipment. Once again showing us their owner mentality and their buy-in to the success of Copper City, and our overall goal.
But then they got us with the second gift: A gift card to DiCastro’s. And unless you know the story, you probably don’t know just how much that means…. Almost three years ago, the two of us sat at a table at DiCastro’s with nothing but a pen, a notebook and an idea that felt a little out there…. We were there for hours!
We scribbled down thoughts. Talked through what we wanted this place to be. Crossed out names. Came up with more. Dreamed about a gym that didn’t exist yet. Somewhere on those pages, Copper City Fitness was born.
At the time, we had absolutely no idea if any of it would work. We just knew we believed in it enough to try.
Then we reached out to a few coaches and basically asked, “Are you crazy enough to do this with us?” Without hesitation, they were. And two years later, here we are.
That little idea on a piece of paper became a gym. That gym became a community. And the people who took a chance on us before we knew exactly what we were building have helped turn it into something bigger than we ever could have drawn in that notebook.
To our coaches — thank you for believing in CCF, for believing in us, and for caring about this place as deeply as you do.
The rower is incredible. The DiCastro’s gift hit us right in the heart.
But having all of you beside us through these first two years? That’s the gift we’ll never be able to thank you enough for. Happy almost 2 years, CCF. And to think it all started with a pen, a notebook, and a really big idea.
So here’s our shoutout to you all, for making CCF what it is. Because let’s be honest, without you our ideas would still just be on this paper.
