One week later. This is why I created our balm. 💙

I’m not only the founder and formulator, but I’m a mom who originally created this balm for my own daughter and her delicate skin.

So seeing results like this on another little one means so much to me. 🤍

PART 2 with Farmer Jillae. When you can’t find a reputable source for an ingredient, you grow it yourself. 🌱

That’s what we did with Cardiospermum, a special botanical known for its ability to soothe irritation and eczema-prone skin.

We asked our farmer, Jillae, what the most challenging part of taking on Cardiospermum has been.

Her answer? The harvest.

The leaves have to be carefully picked by hand, making harvesting one of the most time and labor intensive parts of bringing this ingredient from the farm to our formula.

For us, knowing where an ingredient comes from means knowing who grows it, how it’s grown, and the care that goes into every harvest.

Sometimes, the best way to know your source is to become part of it. 🤍

From the farm, to the formula… to your skin. When I was developing our balm, dermatologist and eczema specialist, Dr. Peter Lio suggested we explore Cardiospermum, or balloon vine, a botanical with research showing it may help soothe irritation in eczema-prone skin.

There was just one problem: I couldn’t find a source I felt good about. So I decided to grow it myself. 🌱

I found the seeds and started by planting Cardiospermum in my own backyard, learning how the vines grew and how to harvest the plant. What began as an experiment at home has now grown into a partnership with a local farm ᴡᴀɴᴅᴇʀɪɴ’ ʙᴀʀᴇꜰᴏᴏᴛ ꜰᴀʀᴍ that grows Cardiospermum specifically for us. The leaves are hand picked from the vines and carefully harvested for use in our balm. It is very tedious work, but the leaves are the part of the plant we value for their naturally occurring compounds that soothe irritation so it has to be done this way.

From a suggestion by Dr. Lio, to seeds in my backyard, to rows growing on a local organic farm, to coming up with a special extract process, and ultimately into our Indigo Balm. This is what ingredient sourcing means to us at Abby Rose. 🤍

For someone navigating TSW, finding skincare they feel comfortable reaching for throughout the day can be especially important. We love hearing the success stories of those that found comfort in our products.

The two products in the routine: Hydrating Serum and Indigo Balm… are made with gentle, organic ingredients known for calming, nourishing and strengthening the skin barrier without the stinging or irritation.
