Kids Who Count Kids Who Count is a nonprofit, Early Intervention program serving families in Ut EARLY INTERVENTION

Babies and toddlers grow and develop at different rates.

Early intervention can improve the outcomes for children who need a little extra help to keep their development on track. Early intervention services are authorized by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and are available in every state. As part of the Utah Department of Health Baby Watch Early Intervention program, our goal is to help your child grow and learn, and reach their

potential. The Kids Who Count early intervention program serves children from birth to age three in the Nebo School District boundaries who have a delay in their development or a diagnosed disability. This sweet fall tale follows Fletcher the fox as he watches his favorite tree lose its leaves one by one — and worries it might be getting sick! 🍂 The repeated phrase each time a leaf falls gives little ones a pattern to anticipate (and eventually join in on!), which is a great way to build expressive language and turn-taking skills.

The simple, relatable story also opens the door for easy conversation — try asking "why is Fletcher worried?" or "what do you see on this page?" as you read together. Seasonal words like leaves, wind, and frost come to life naturally within the story, helping with vocabulary retention.

💙 Meet Christian!

Christian turned 3 in February and spent his time with Kids Who Count building new sounds and words with his speech therapist — one game at a time. His mom shares that he adored every session with her, and it truly was a meaningful experience for their family.

Since starting services, Christian has made real progress: he's identifying more words, making more sounds, and working steadily toward his speech goals. And with those new words has come something just as powerful — better behavior, and a lot less frustration, because he finally has the tools to express himself.

"Wish it didn't stop at 3" is something we hear often — and it's exactly why the work we do in those early years matters so much.
