Collaboration is how we build a healthier, more connected, and more sustainable community. 🤝

Last week, Ritter Center staff came together with some wonderful community partners for our all-staff meeting.

🚐 Huge thanks to our neighbors at Vivalon for sharing more about the important work they do to help seniors and people with disabilities stay connected, independent, and engaged in their communities.

♻️ Zero Waste Marin helped us get better acquainted with our new building’s recycling, compost, and trash systems—including what can and can’t go in each bin. Because sometimes, it’s not as obvious as you’d think!

💙 Our own Director of Clinical Compliance, Sehrish Khan, gave us a presentation on Ritter Center’s Street Medicine team and the vital work they do to bring compassionate, whole-person healthcare directly to people experiencing homelessness throughout our community.

🏢 And a special thank you to Marin Sanitary Service for generously letting us use their space for our meetings!

🎒Ritter Center’s annual Back to School Giveaway was a resounding success, providing 200 children across Marin County with brand-new backpacks, school supplies, and gift cards to help them start the school year with confidence.📚

Families selected colorful backpacks that were stocked with notebooks, pens, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more. Each child also received a $100 gift card for clothes, shoes, or any other essential supplies they might need to ease the financial burden many families face during this time of year.

The success of this event was made possible through the generous support of our community partners. We are especially grateful to BioMarin, Children for Change, St Anselm Church, St Stephens Church, The Lost and Found Project, and Book Exchange of Marin for their commitment to helping local families thrive.

Picture the first day of school. Some kids walk in with a brand-new backpack and shoes— everything they need. Others walk in hoping no one notices what they don’t have. That gap between showing up ready and showing up worried is what our Back-to-School Backpack Program closes.

This year, we’re aiming to give 200 kids in Marin that same feeling of walking in prepared: a fully stocked backpack and a $100 Target gift card, so parents can choose the clothes and shoes their child actually needs.

It costs $150 to fully support one child. Your donation—of any amount—brings dignity, joy, and relief to a struggling family.

As the new school year approaches, many families in our community face the daunting task of preparing their children with the necessary supplies. For low-income families, this can be an overwhelming financial burden.

Ritter Center’s Back-to-School Backpack Program aims to alleviate this stress and ensure every child starts the school year with confidence and excitement by providing them with a fully-stocked backpack and $100 Target gift card to buy clothes, shoes and other essentials.

We are excited to announce that our Medical Clinic and Behavioral Health departments will be moving into our new building at 800 A Street and beginning operations next Monday, July 13th.

🔵 Current moving schedule update:

🔹Case Management & Whole Person Care: moved in and operational
🔹Medical Clinic & Behavioral Health: opening at 800 A Street on 7/13
🔹Community Market: still operating from 16 Ritter Street

Donors should continue to drop any in-kind donations off at 16 Ritter until the Community Market is moved.

June is Pride Month, and we’re glad to celebrate it with our community.

At Ritter Center, we’ve always believed that everyone deserves to be met where they are — without judgment, without conditions. Whether someone comes to us for food, medical care, or just a moment of support, we’re here for them.
