While in Alberta for the G20 race, I caught up with race organizer Dan Miller to find out about the race weekend.
This is the fifth year of the G20, and apparently the first race was held in November—in 12 inches of snow at Ghost Lake! Thankfully, they’ve since moved it to summer.
The G20 started as a 20K race around the lake, but when Dan added a 10K option, everyone chose the shorter distance. His solution? Meet in the middle with a 12K.
And that’s just the distance race.
At Harmony Lake, there were beach-start sprints and an ISA-style technical race with buoy turns, beach runs, and approximately 700-meter laps.
