We would like to extend our thanks to the National Kidney Foundation, our 2026 National Partner, for their support of the Power Health Tour Community Give Back Day.

The National Kidney Foundation is revolutionizing the fight to save lives by eliminating preventable kidney disease, accelerating innovation to improve the patient experience, and dismantling structural inequities in kidney care, dialysis, and transplantation. For more information, please visit https://www.kidney.org/.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual observance established in 1949 to reduce stigma, educate the public, and support those living with mental health conditions.

Led by organizations such as NAMI, this month features community events, advocacy initiatives, and shared resources dedicated to promoting mental wellness. Power Health Tour is grateful for NAMI’s support/partnership and the vital work they do. For more information and resources, please visit https://www.nami.org/.

Regular dental screenings are essential for maintaining oral and systemic health, offering early detection of cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer. These checkups (ideally every six months) prevent advanced, costly treatments by identifying issues early. Our amazing sponsor and supporter, Power Health Tour, is offering a free dental screening with supplies in Boston, MA.

On Saturday, May 16th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., stop by the Grove Hall Stop & Shop in their wellness space for a free dental screening and free dental supplies with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

Exercise combats health conditions and diseases

Exercise combats health conditions and diseases.

Worried about heart disease? Hoping to prevent high blood pressure? No matter what your current weight is, being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol, and it decreases unhealthy triglycerides. This one-two punch keeps your blood flowing smoothly, which lowers your risk of heart and blood vessel, called cardiovascular, diseases.

Regular exercise helps prevent or manage many health problems and concerns, including:

Stroke.

Metabolic syndrome.

High blood pressure.

Type 2 diabetes.

Depression.

Anxiety.

Many types of cancer.

Arthritis.

Falls.

It also can help improve cognitive function and helps lower the risk of death from all causes.

Stress is something everyone experiences, often many times throughout the day. With today's political climate, mental stress is at an all-time high for many. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Good mental health can help you cope with the challenges of daily life, maintain healthy relationships, and achieve your goals. However, poor mental health can lead to various problems, including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and even su***de.

Stress is one of the leading causes of poor mental health. When stressed, your body releases hormones like cortisol and adrenaline that trigger the “fight or flight” response. This response can be helpful in dangerous situations, but chronic stress can lead to a range of health problems, including anxiety, depression, insomnia, and digestive issues.

For additional information on managing your stress, check out samhsa.gov/find-help.
