In the Kongo Central province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, young people are helping turn doubt into trust about the malaria vaccine in their local communities.

Misconceptions about the vaccine were preventing families from getting their children vaccinated. Together with UNICEF, we launched a youth-led communication challenge to increase vaccine demand in communities most at risk of low uptake by building trust, countering rumors, and helping families follow the recommended four-dose vaccine schedule.

The data is showing promising results. Since January 2025, the ten health zones where youth clubs operated have seen a steady increase in vaccine coverage, along with a significant decrease in the dropout rate between doses.

📢 New partnership announcement!

Thalassemia is an inherited blood condition that affects the body’s ability to make healthy hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. For many people and families in India, that means a lifetime of care.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Thalassemics India to help improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and support for people affected by thalassemia.

Together we’re working to:

âś… Build tools and resources aligned with national and state priorities
âś… Identify where collaboration can have the greatest impact
âś… Strengthen training for health care professionals and other experts
âś… Share what works to improve care and support patients and caregivers

The goal is to support a stronger health system that connects people and families to the care, information, and support they need.

📢Good news in the fight against typhoid!

There’s now another vaccine option to help protect children and communities from typhoid.

EuBiologics Co., Ltd.’s new typhoid vaccine has been prequalified by the World Health Organization (WHO), an important step toward making it available in countries where typhoid is a major health threat.

More vaccine options can help strengthen supply, expand access, and ultimately protect more children from a disease we know how to prevent.

Keeping vaccines safe takes more than a refrigerator.

It takes reliable equipment, regular monitoring, and quick action when something goes wrong.

In Senegal, the Ministry of Health, with support from PATH, is using a digital tool to help health teams monitor and maintain the equipment that keeps vaccines at the right temperature.

Join us to hear how is strengthening its immunization system and what other countries can learn from the experience.

🗣️The session will be in French with English interpretation.

Brazil has built one of Latin America’s strongest tuberculosis care networks — but can that same infrastructure also create a pathway for earlier lung cancer detection and more integrated care?

In a new Devex Q&A, Helen McGuire, PATH’s global program leader for noncommunicable diseases, and Camilo Manchola-Castillo, program director at Global Health Strategies Latin America, explore how integrating TB and lung cancer services could help make better use of existing resources, digital health systems, and community-based care.

In October 2024, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) introduced a malaria vaccine to help protect children from this deadly disease. But introducing a new vaccine takes more than making it available. Communities need information, trust, and support to ensure children receive all four doses.

That’s why we teamed up with non-traditional partners to help build awareness and demand for the malaria vaccine. 💉 Faith leaders, teachers, radio DJs, taxi drivers, and actors are sharing information and encouraging families to vaccinate their children.

PATH and the DRC Ministry of Health are bringing these partners together to identify local solutions, share what’s working, and address challenges. These efforts now span 20 health zones across five provinces, with more than 280 organizations involved.

UPDATE -- August 27: Since we shared this post, devastating floods have struck communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, including Nuwakot District, where this initiative operates. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and widespread destruction. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, those awaiting news of loved ones, and the first responders working under extraordinarily difficult conditions. We will be connecting with our partners to understand the impact on communities and how best to support them.

Youth in Nepal are using social media to get people moving! 📱

PATH is partnering with the International Olympic Committee and the World Health Organization (WHO) to bring health-enhancing sport into everyday life. The Initiative (spanning Ghana, Tanzania, Vietnam, Nepal, Peru, and India) has supported more than 1.4 million people in becoming more active, trained 7,000+ health workers to lead these programs, and 700+ local organizations to integrate sport and movement into their services.

Awareness messages about sport and health have reached 6 million people and counting, and in Nepal, youth took to social media to spread the message. PATH and Health Concern partnered with Nepal’s National Health Education Information and Communication Centre (NHEICC) to launch a TikTok competition promoting physical activity, sport, and healthy lifestyles.

The response? 50 creative videos from across Nepal!

Representatives from the NHEICC and the Nepal Olympic Committee selected five winners for their creativity and ability to encourage others to get moving. The winners were celebrated during a special ceremony on International Olympic Day.

📽️Now, we’re excited to share one of the winning videos with you. ⬇️

It’s one example of a growing movement to make physical activity part of everyday life in .
