Eat the avocado!

Healthy fats are ESSENTIAL to your perimenopause diet.

Healthy fats like those found in avocado help in functions like absorbing vitamins A, D, E, and K.

They stabilize blood sugar, reduce hunger, and combat inflammation!

Healthy fats keep your joints moving, improve skin, and reduce "bad" cholesterol.

Mash avocado with tuna for a refreshing tuna salad, or add to black beans for a delicious burrito filling!

What's your favorite way to eat avocado?

Emotional eating. Ugh. The thing that diet culture tells us to avoid!

“You’re not hungry, you’re just…

bored
sad
angry
tired.”

Um, excuse me. If a little snack helps me emotionally regulate and deal with my hectic schedule, hormonal emotions, and relationship issues, then that snack is a healthy choice.

Comfort food is not a bad thing. It is one tool in your mental health toolkit, like journaling, taking a walk, calling a friend, or meditation.

What’s your favorite stress-relieving snack?

Fasting is skipping breakfast with a fancy name.

Your body has already been fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours by the time you wake up, since most of us don’t eat dinner right before going to bed. If you wake up hungry, eat breakfast.

Choose a quick, easy option with protein, fat, and carbs. Pick something satisfying that fits your dietary preferences and lifestyle, and don’t sweat it. Eating breakfast can reduce cravings and provide the energy you need.

What’s your favorite breakfast? Let me know!

Do you want to love asparagus, but are put off by mushy vegetables?

Try this super-tasty, super-easy roasted asparagus.

Place your trimmed asparagus on a parchment-lined baking tray and top with chili oil and a sprinkle of curtido salt, like this one from Firefly Kitchens, or your favorite cooking salt.

Roast the asparagus at 425ºF-450ºF (depending on how hot your oven gets!).

Space the spears; crowding causes steaming and makes it mushy.

Once it's done to your liking, take the asparagus out and top it with fresh lemon zest! DELICIOUS.

What would you pair this with?

You don’t need to earn your BBQ! 🌭

Summer should be filled with cookouts, swimsuits, friends, and good food. There are no miles to run or weights to lift to earn your right to enjoy everything summer has to offer.

Get out there, soak up the sun safely, and enjoy the warm, longer days. In the Pacific Northwest, we will be dreaming of these sunny days during the cold, dark winter.

What are you doing this Memorial Day?

Throw the scale in the trash!

Weight is only one metric of health, and not the most important one.

Are you:
Feeling stronger?
Lowering your blood pressure?
Doing strength training?
Paying attention to your cholesterol and blood sugar?
Staying flexible?

Support your health goals with gentle nutrition. It’s about progress, not perfection!

The person you will be in 10 years starts today. ⏰

Let that sink in. If you're 50, you'll be 60 in 10 years. What do you want a 60-year-old you to be able to do? Get herself up off the floor effortlessly, carry groceries and grandkids, walk confidently up and down stairs and hillsides?

If working out to look better no longer appeals, think about working out to live better. I would rather not do strength training, I admit it, but when I picture myself at 60, 70, 80, or older, I want to be as independent and strong as I can be.

How about you? What can you do today to make your future self’s life better?

Ladies, our thoughts are like the weather; sometimes we just have to ride them out.

When you're having a bad body image day, here's what I want you to do:

1. Put on some comfy clothes that make you feel snuggly and supported

2. Move your body gently, take a grounding walk, or do some stretches

3. Take some deep, slow breaths

Remember that this body has carried you every step of the way to where you are right now. Try to stay in the moment and grant that body some love and compassion. 💗
