Artwork, and the process of creating art with a mental health and registered art therapist, can be seen as a communication tool.

The artwork you create in session is an extension of you, and is therefore language unique to yourself. When experiencing a challenge or crisis, you may find that talking becomes difficult or less effective. Art can provide a new avenue for you to explore topics such as self-esteem, trauma memories, sleep disturbances, relational conflicts and more.

Ashley works with individuals ages 3 years through the lifespan, and has openings for new clients.

Understanding the ADHD Path

Subject: Struggling to stay on track? Let’s find out why.

We’ve all been there—staring at a to-do list that feels like a mountain, or losing your keys for the third time in a morning. But when forgetfulness, distraction, or overwhelm begin to impact your work, relationships, or mental health, it’s natural to wonder: Is this ADHD?

What an ADHD Diagnostic Evaluation Looks Like With Me:

As a PMHNP, I diagnose ADHD through comprehensive clinical diagnostic assessments. This is not a “pass/fail” test. It is a structured process designed to understand how your brain functions in real life.

The Power of Your Story

We begin with a deep-dive clinical interview. We explore your history from childhood to present day to identify long-standing patterns that standardized testing alone may not capture.

Evidence-Based Tools

I use validated ADHD rating scales to help measure symptom frequency and intensity compared to clinical benchmarks.

For children and adolescents, this often includes:

Parent rating scales
Teacher feedback when available
A Holistic Clinical View

ADHD symptoms can overlap with anxiety, trauma, sleep disruption, stress, and mood concerns. Part of the evaluation is carefully distinguishing what is driving the symptoms so we are treating the right condition.

When Additional Testing Is Needed

While I diagnose ADHD clinically, I do not provide formal neuropsychological or psychological testing.

In some cases—when symptoms are unclear, overlapping, or further clarification is needed—I may recommend formal psychological testing with a specialist before starting certain treatments, including controlled medications when appropriate.

Patients are always welcome to return with those results so we can continue care together.

Why Start Here?

Many people assume they need to wait months for testing before starting care. In most cases, a thorough clinical evaluation is the appropriate first step.

This approach helps us move from:
“I don’t know what’s going on” → “Here’s a clear plan forward.”

You don’t need all the answers before you begin.

That’s what I’m here for—helping bring clarity, structure, and direction to your next step.

Access care from wherever you are.

Many of our providers offer telehealth services, making it easier to receive thoughtful, connected care from home, work, or wherever life takes you.

Current telehealth availability:

• Amy provides Functional Medicine virtually for patients located in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa at the time of their appointment.
• Catie provides Functional Medicine virtually for patients located in South Dakota and Minnesota.
• All counselors, Lauren (Functional Medicine), and Hannah (psychiatry) provide services virtually for patients located within South Dakota.

Telehealth can be a great fit for individuals located a lengthy drive from our office or for those who have busy days and find it difficult to step away. Telehealth is also a wonderful option, for follow-up visits, medication management, functional medicine care, and ongoing support — while still receiving the collaborative, whole-person approach our team is known for.

Schedule by calling 605-271-5640. If we're on another line when you call - please leave a message, we will call you back!

In-House Lab Draws at The Wellness Collective

We’ve partnered with Access Labs to offer convenient, in-house blood draws for our patients.

When your provider recommends lab work, it helps us better understand how your body is functioning so we can create a more personalized treatment plan to support your health. We assess for underlying factors that may be impacting both physical and mental wellness, allowing us to support your care more comprehensively.

Many labs require fasting, so please consult with your provider in advance.

Our phlebotomist is available 5 days a week beginning at 8:00 AM. Lab draws can often be completed the same day as your appointment or scheduled in advance for your convenience.

We submit labs directly to insurance for coverage, and our same low cash-pay rate is also available for those who prefer that option. Because our providers may recommend both conventional and specialty labs, we encourage patients to check with their insurance carrier regarding specific coverage.

To schedule, call our front desk at 605-271-5640.
