Every fall, I hear some version of: “Why does my ADHD suddenly feel so much worse?”

Back-to-school means more schedules, forms, lunches, drop-offs, activities and things to remember.

Your ADHD didn’t suddenly change. Your brain is adjusting to more demands, more transitions and a much heavier mental load.

Give yourself time to find your rhythm again. 🤍

Two years ago today, Bloom Mental Health & Wellness saw our very first patient. 🌸

It’s a little hard to believe it has already been two years.

Bloom has grown and changed in ways I couldn’t have imagined when we first opened our doors, but the reason behind it has never changed. I wanted to create a place where women could feel safe when they were struggling. A place where they felt heard, cared for, and never alone in what they were going through. I also wanted to bring specialized, integrative perinatal psychiatric care to South Dakota in a way that hadn’t really existed here before.

There is still such a long way to go. The need is enormous, and there are still far too many women and families who struggle to find the care and support they deserve. But looking back today, I’m incredibly proud of what Bloom has become and even more grateful for the people who have helped make it possible.

The story of Bloom actually started years before we ever saw that first patient.

At the end of 2020, I experienced a personal loss that changed me in a lot of ways. Out of that season came the very beginning of an idea. What if I could create something that helped make an incredibly difficult season a little less lonely for someone else?

At the time, Bloom felt like a crazy dream. And I’m pretty sure more than a few people thought I was crazy for pursuing it.

I wish I could show the 2020 version of myself what Bloom looks like in 2026.

This journey has been full of twists and turns, some incredible highs, some really difficult moments, and plenty of figuring things out along the way. But through all of it, I continue to come back to the same thing: this work matters.

To every person who has encouraged us, supported us, referred someone to Bloom, shared our name, or simply believed in what we were trying to build, thank you. You have been part of this story, too.

And to our patients: thank you for trusting us with some of the most personal and vulnerable parts of your lives. It is a privilege to care for you, and that trust is something we will never take lightly.

Two years down. 🌸

I’m incredibly grateful for where Bloom has been, proud of where we are today, and excited to see what the next year brings.

Finding Your Footing: A potential new therapy group for young women ages 18–25.

Early adulthood can be exciting… but it can also feel really hard.

Anxiety and overthinking. Friendships and relationships. People-pleasing. Trying to set boundaries. Figuring out school, a career, and what comes next, all while feeling like you’re supposed to have it together.

Kaitlyn Walker, PMHNP, is exploring the possibility of starting Finding Your Footing, a 6-week therapy group designed to give young women a supportive space to connect, build confidence, and navigate the challenges of early adulthood.

Right now, we’re simply gathering interest and want to hear from YOU.

If you’re 18–25 and a group like this sounds helpful, take a few minutes to fill out our interest form. Your feedback will help Kaitlyn determine topics, scheduling, cost/payment options, and whether there’s enough interest to move forward.

✨ Filling out the form does not commit you to participating.

As mental health Nurse Practitioners, part of our job is asking what else could be contributing to how you feel?

Sometimes that means digging a little deeper before deciding what the next step should be.

Because the goal isn’t just to manage symptoms. It’s to understand the bigger picture and build a treatment plan around you.

Bloom Mental Health and Wellness is exploring the possibility of offering a trauma-informed Yoga + Yoga Nidra class.

Yoga is a practice that supports the connection between the body, breath, and mind. Research has shown that yoga and mindfulness-based practices may help support emotional regulation, stress reduction, relaxation, and overall well-being.

We are gathering anonymous feedback to help determine the best day and time for this offering. If you are interested please complete the form with this link:

Motherhood is full of contradictions—and maybe we should talk about that more. 🤍

Working with moms (and being one myself) has taught me that there’s rarely one “right” way to feel about motherhood.

You can love this season deeply and still have complicated feelings about it. That doesn’t take away from the love—it’s just part of being human.

Maybe motherhood was never meant to feel just one way. 🤍

One of the biggest misconceptions about medication is that once you start, you’re on it forever.

For many women, that’s simply not true.

Every situation is different and every treatment plan should be too.

Our goal is help you feel your best while creating a plan that aligns with your goals - whether that includes medication long term, or not.

Feeling anxious doesn’t always mean anxiety is the only thing going on.

Sometimes there are underlying medical factors contributing to how you feel.

That’s why we believe in looking beyond symptoms before assuming there’s only one answer.

Every woman deserves care that’s personalized to her — not just her symptoms. 🤍

Therapy isn’t about saying the “right” thing.

It’s about having a place where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay.

A place to be honest, process what’s weighing on you, better understand yourself, and learn tools that support you long after your appointment ends.

If you’ve been thinking about therapy but aren’t sure where to start, this is your reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

🤎 Kaitlyn is currently accepting new therapy clients.

At Bloom, therapy is one part of the personalized mental health care we provide. Whether you’re looking for therapy, medication management, or both, we’re here to help you find the support that fits your needs.
