A yoga sangha is special--it is much more than a

gym! We follow these guidelines as we grow in all the limbs of practice:

The path to better health and inner radiance should be accessible to all. Our yoga community is dedicated to inclusion: people of all abilities, sizes, racial and gender identities are welcome here. The studio offers services and events at fair prices with free, sliding scale, and scholarship opportunities available. We recognize the earth beneath the studio has a long history and our practice includes honoring the indigenous peoples of the land and environmental stewardship for the future. The wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda is a gift; one which has been both generously shared and culturally appropriated. Our teachers pledge to honor the lineage of gurus through recognizing the history and culture of South Asia.

More FUN with the ropes in Foundations this week as we explore twisting.
The word "parivrtta" in Sanskrit means revolved. Twisting in the abdomen can improve digestion and organ health; twisting the thoracic spine is important from rib mobility, breathing, and spinal health.
We "revolve to evolve" in a healthy way as we age!!

36 years ago I was pregnant with my first baby. I was "doing all the right things" and planned a home birth. While I had a great experience, my labor was l--o--n--g and as I got older, I started having pelvic problems. I was still "doing all the right things".. or so I thought.

Changing the paradigm around pelvic health, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery has been a journey for me in my own body and one that I have added to the studio services which include personalized consultations, weekly prenatal yoga classes, and my exclusive Prenatal Prepare + Partner birth education workshops.

As a certified Body Ready Method® Pro, I can say that this training is key to understanding specifically what kind of movements, breathing practices, and mindset are essential to understand--either for birth professionals or birthing people.

GET FREE access to a three-day training and learn about how to REALLY "do all the right things" for an easier pregnancy, efficient birth, and better postpartum recovery. Here's the link:

There is a reason I chose to take my vocation to becoming a yoga teacher. For over 40 years I have worked in the fitness industry--teaching all of the trendiest, new fads to people looking for the answer to their feelings of self doubt and sense of lack.

But I am first and foremost a health educator. And what I witnessed in most of the gyms I worked at (which was similar to my experience as a nurse in a for-profit hospital) was not something that promoted or supported real health and wellness.
It supported:
Weight loss
Conformity
Adrenaline rushes
Competition
and "Quick fix" mentality

Last weekend I lead a most amazing workshop, taking a small group finding safety and discovery in their bodies, into growth, transformation, and a sense of wholeness--nothing lacking, only possibilities for deeper awareness and expression. We explored the roots of Ta**ra, the biology of female genitalia, and the potential of generative creativity.

"The world will keep creating new stimulation for restless minds. But none of it will create lasting well-being if human beings keep avoiding depth, discipline, self awareness, and inner work."

of On The Path Yoga!

While we started the build out of our first studio, I started teaching classes outside at Lakeside Beach. We continue that tradition now on Sunday mornings from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend with our Peace in the Park--Outdoor Community Yoga classes, starting this Sunday!!

(Photos from the beach in 2011--we now teach our outdoor classes at North Bank Park, right next to Ace Hardware)

There is no better way to prepare for birth than to practice movements now that will help you to achieve movement in the moment intuitively.

Prenatal Yoga helps you to find space for your breath, your hips, and your pelvic floor for a more comfortable pregnancy, efficient birth, and better postpartum recovery.

Practicing regularly makes it all register more deeply in your nervous system and memory.

That is why we have WEEKLY Gentle/Prenatal Yoga classes offered on Mondays at 10:30am as well as Mondays and Thursdays at 5:30pm. Taught by certified Prenatal Yoga instructors, we incorporate movements that are beneficial for supporting pregnancy and birth--and honestly?--these movements are beneficial for EVERYONE and that is why we also invite all of our clientele to join.
