Dog stops “bad sounds,” charged $100,000 in fireworks.

A man says he woke up to the kind of phone call nobody expects, police telling him his white pit bull had been caught inside a TNT fireworks stand down the road, after the door had been forced open and thousands of dollars in fireworks had been torn apart.

At first, he thought there had to be some mistake. His dog was gentle, slept inside, and had never destroyed anything like that before. But when he rushed over, there he was, sitting proudly outside the stand with scraps of fireworks everywhere, wagging his tail like he had solved the biggest problem in the world. Then came the bill, estimated at nearly $100,000 in damages.

But what made the story hit people differently was what happened the night before. The man said fireworks had been going off all evening, and his 1 year old son started crying, repeating that he wanted the “bad sounds” to stop. Their pit bull, who had always been scared of fireworks himself, climbed beside the baby and stayed there, trying to comfort him until they both fell asleep. Sometime later, cameras allegedly showed the dog slipping out of the house, walking straight to the nearby fireworks stand, and tearing through the very thing he seemed to believe was hurting the baby.

Now the owner is facing a massive bill, but online, thousands are saying the dog didn’t vandalize anything. He just heard a little boy ask for help, and did the only thing he thought would make the bad sounds stop.
