Why Your Hormones Aren't the Real Problem

If your hormones feel chaotic, your endocrine system isn't broken—it’s just responding to a perceived crisis. Most hormonal imbalances are actually downstream consequences of systemic stressors.
When your body is stuck in survival mode, it rewrites your hormonal blueprint across seven distinct upstream targets:

1. Chronic Stress & The HPA Axis
When mental or physical stress is constant, your Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis stays locked on. Your body prioritizes survival by pumping out cortisol, leaving fewer resource building blocks to produce vital s*x hormones like progesterone.

2. Blood Sugar Rollercoasters
Elevated cortisol signals your liver to flood the bloodstream with glucose for quick energy. Because you aren't physically running from a predator, this triggers massive insulin spikes, leading to insulin resistance, stubborn belly fat, and intense sugar cravings.

3. Gut Dysbiosis
Chronic inflammation from an imbalanced microbiome (gut dysbiosis) impairs the estrobolome—a unique collection of gut bacteria tasked with metabolizing estrogen. Instead of being cleared, excess estrogen gets reabsorbed into your system, fueling estrogen dominance.

4. Environmental Toxins
Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) like plastics, pesticides, and heavy metals mimic your natural hormones. They bind to hormone receptor sites, locking out your body's actual hormones and throwing your delicate symptom feedback loops out of sync.

5. Nutrient Deficiencies
Hormone production requires raw materials. Chronic stress rapidly burns through magnesium, B vitamins, and zinc. Without these critical cofactors, your body physically cannot synthesize adequate progesterone or active thyroid hormones.

6. Liver Congestion
Your liver is the ultimate hormonal cleanup crew; it processes and deactivates spent hormones. When it is sluggish or overwhelmed by processing environmental toxins and excess sugar, old estrogen recirculates, driving mood swings and heavy periods.

✨️ Product spotlight ✨️
Finding the perfect natural shampoo can be a long process of trial and error. It took me a full year of testing different brands to find a clean formula that consistently delivered results without the harsh chemicals.

The search finally ended with

What sets them apart is that they offer specific options for the various "seasons" your hair goes through. Whether you are dealing with seasonal dryness or need a deep refresh, they have a targeted formula that works.

Here are the four I keep in rotation:

Ultra Hydrating: My go-to for when hair feels brittle or dry. The combination of argan oil and pumpkin seed provides serious moisture.

Curiously Clarifying: Perfect for a deep reset. The lemongrass and rosemary scent is incredibly fresh and it’s the best way to wash away product buildup.

Vivacious Volume: When my hair needs a bit more life, this peppermint and echinacea blend provides amazing lift and texture.

Daily Workout: This is the ultimate "workout formula." It’s designed for frequent washers, using watermelon and blood orange to gently cleanse without stripping your hair.

The scents are all plant-based and refreshing, and the performance holds up to professional standards. If you have been looking to make the switch to natural haircare, these are my top recommendations.

✨ Reflecting on "Harmony in Transition" ✨

My cup is still full from our Harmony in Transition: A Functional Guide to Perimenopausal Nutrition workshop with !

It was filled with great conversations, shared experiences and felt extremely validating in a room full of women. They opened up, shared their journeys, symptoms, frustrations and held space for each other through the transitions we’re all navigating.

Here are my top four takeaways that I’m carrying with me:

Your Story Matters: Every woman who walked through the door had a story about how the healthcare system has failed them. If you’ve felt unheard or dismissed, please know your experiences are valid.

It’s Never Too Late: Even when your body feels like it’s failing or acting in ways you don’t recognize, it is not too late to take charge of your health. You are worth the effort of finding a path that works for you.

Nutrition Mantras: We’re keeping it simple and effective. My new kitchen staples? Fiber Forward and P-C-C (Protein, Carbs, and Color). These are the foundations of every meal prep moving forward!

The Big Picture: Nutrition is a massive piece of the puzzle, but movement and stress reduction are just as vital for finding balance during this season of life.

I LOVE my kind heart.

I absolutely adore how every person and every situation is shrouded in a beautiful light through my eyes. Name all the cliches and thats me, Glass half full? Yup. Rose colored glasses? I'm wearing them. Silver lining? I found it.

🤍 Happy Valentine’s Day 🤍 to the soul that always leads me in the right direction.

Today, I’m not just celebrating a day; I’m celebrating the quiet strength, the hidden kindness, and the inner light that never goes out. It’s a day to be still and remember that the most sacred love is the one you cultivate within.

Take a breath. Feel your heartbeat. You are a masterpiece.
