LCS Transition Program

LCS Transition Program The LCS Transition Program's mission is to help young adults with disabilities secure employment. Employment is a huge focus of the LCS Transition Program.

The LCS Transition Program is for young adults ages 18-22 who have graduted from a Leon County High School with an Access Point Diploma. We aim to teach employbility skills, social skills, and independent living skills to create thriving members of our community. Our students get to practice all of the skills they learn in class out in our community. They learn how to use public transportation, wo

rk at paid and unpaid work sites, and practice life skills, such as shopping, budgetting, and self advocating, out and about in Tallahassee. The students are supported through every step of becoming employed. We work on everything from resume building to interviewing skills to on job training. Once a student secures employment, a case specialist will be assigned to help the student complete on job training, work with the employer to develop accommodations, and conduct monthly evaluations to continue supporting the student throughout their employment.

We enjoyed our annual cookout to celebrate the end of the school year! We played kickball, basketball, in the sprinkler, cheered, danced and just enjoyed our time together!

Later in the week our students had the opportunity to roast a staff member. 😂
