Joseph Pilates designed incredible equipment, but he created it to support the method, not define it.

That’s why I don’t believe you have to completely change the way you teach just because the equipment in front of you changes.

The apparatus may look different from studio to studio, but the principles remain the same: precision, control, concentration, and purposeful movement.

The tools can vary.

The method doesn’t. 🤍

What nobody tells new instructors is that teaching Pilates isn’t determined by how advanced your own practice is.

Yes, understanding the work in your own body matters. Your personal practice gives you valuable experience, insight, and appreciation for the method.

But being able to perform every exercise in the repertoire doesn’t automatically make someone an effective teacher.

Because teaching isn’t about what you can do, it’s about understanding what your client needs.

The best instructors know how to observe movement, recognize compensations, solve problems, and communicate in a way that creates confidence and results.

That’s why great teaching requires more than mastering exercises. It requires experience. It requires curiosity. And it requires learning how to see the body in front of you, not just the one in the textbook.

At the end of the day, your success as an instructor isn’t measured solely by your own movement practice.

It’s measured by the people you help move better, feel better, and discover what they’re capable of through movement. 💪🏽

Just because your toes touch the floor doesn’t mean you’re doing Pilates.

One of the biggest misconceptions in Pilates is thinking that the goal is to create a shape.

But Pilates isn’t about getting your leg lower.
It’s about maintaining control while you move.

When the toes tap the floor, many people lose their abdominal connection, shift the work into their hip flexors, and rely on momentum instead of control.

The question isn’t:
“Can your toes touch the floor?”

The question is:
“Can you maintain connection, precision, and control throughout the entire movement?”

In classical Pilates, the movement only matters if the principles are there.

Connection before the shape.
Control before the range.
Quality before quantity.

That’s the difference.

“I grew up as a competitive dancer and later became a professional cheerleader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so my body has been through years of high-level performance and wear and tear. I’m also a mom of two, over 40, and I deal with an autoimmune disease that affects my joints and nerves, plus arthritis and a lower back ablation.”

“I was even a Pilates instructor myself, so I’ve trained with a lot of people over the years — and that’s exactly why I’m so selective about who I trust with my body.”

“What makes Samantha different is that she doesn’t just cue exercises. She sees what’s happening structurally. She notices the smallest compensations, imbalances, and alignment issues that most instructors completely miss.”

“Since training with her, I’ve noticed less pain, better stability, improved posture, and I honestly feel stronger and more connected to my body than I have in years. I move differently in everyday life now.”

“She meets me where my body is on that particular day while still challenging me safely, and that’s something that’s incredibly rare.”

Thank you Angelia for sharing such a powerful story✨

Hands-on cues should guide the body… not force it.

A great Pilates instructor knows that touch is about creating awareness, clarity, and connection, not constant correction.

✨ Touch should help, not overwhelm
✨ Timing matters
✨ And movement should never feel forced

Because Pilates isn’t about pushing someone into the “perfect position.”

It’s about helping each person understand their body, move with control, and build strength safely and intentionally 🤍

That’s where real teaching begins.

Small changes make a BIG difference in Pilates.

The way you position your body, control the movement, and engage your muscles can completely change the exercise.

✨Focus your movement on control, precision and intention!

That’s where the real results happen 🤍

Train smarter, not faster.

If Pilates feels easy… you’re probably missing the point.

Real Pilates is about:
✔️ Control
✔️ Precision
✔️ Full body engagement

Not rushing through movements, not using momentum. And definitely not doing endless reps without intention.

That’s why even the simplest exercises can burn when done correctly.

Because the magic isn’t in doing more, it’s in doing it right. Once you feel the difference, there’s no going back 🤍

Comment “PILATES” if you’re ready to experience real Pilates.

Stepping into Pilates = stepping out of stress for a little while.

Time to slow down, reconnect with your body, and move with intention.

Because sometimes the best part of the day…
is giving yourself this hour 🤍

If you’re starting Pilates, don’t focus on the exercises first.
Focus on the principles behind them.

✨ Breath ✨ Precision ✨ Focus

Your breath helps regulate your body through movement and stress.
Precision helps prevent injury and improves results.
And focus helps you stay connected to your body instead of just “going through the motions.”

That’s also why starting with private sessions can make such a difference.

Working one-on-one with an instructor allows you to:
✔️ Learn proper technique
✔️ Understand your body better
✔️ Build a strong foundation from day one

Pilates isn’t about doing more, It’s about moving with intention 🤍

Your hips don’t need to be “looser.”

They need to move better.

Stretching harder probably isn’t the answer.

In Pilates, mobility comes from control, not forcing range of motion.

This Front Lunge variation on the Reformer strengthens and opens the hips at the same time, helping create better movement patterns, pelvic stability, and less tension through the low back.

✔️ Hip mobility
✔️ Core + pelvic control
✔️ Better alignment
✔️ Stronger movement mechanics
