April is Autism Awareness Month
Meet Makenzie, our Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Utah, who is able to evaluate and diagnose autism in young children ages 2–3.
Makenzie specializes in early autism screening, diagnosis, and support, with advanced training through the University Developmental Assessment Clinic. She’s deeply passionate about early intervention in rural communities because earlier support can make a lifelong difference.
Her clinic proudly serves as a medical home for medically complex children, and Makenzie is known for walking alongside families every step of the way—supporting, advocating, and empowering both children and parents. 🧩💙
Why early diagnosis matters:
🔹 1 in 31 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
🔹 Over 78 million people worldwide are on the autism spectrum
🔹 75% of autistic adults are underemployed or unemployed
🔹 Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the U.S.
Having access to local, early diagnosis can change outcomes—and families in our region don’t have to travel far to find that care.
Learn more about Makenzie or schedule an appointment by visiting our website.

This week, we recognize World Immunization Week to highlight the importance of vaccines to help abolish preventable diseases. Immunization is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect ourselves and our community of all ages from preventable diseases. Let’s take this week to ensure that our immunization records are up to date and that we're all doing our part to protect ourselves and those around us.
