Edit: This is an informational post about passed legislation. This change was part of the crime bill HB 239 that passed and was signed into law in the spring of 2026.

September is Recovery Month, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by walking together.

Join us Saturday, September 19th for the 5th Annual Walk for Recovery as we celebrate recovery, community, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward.

We’ll kick things off at the Target parking lot and walk together to the MY House Youth Drop-In Center, where a BBQ celebration, community connections, and plenty of fun will be waiting at the finish line!

This year’s custom event T-shirt features artwork from Brad Alexander and Oswald Keener’s “Cranky Critters” book series, making it one you won’t want to miss.

Whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone who is, or simply want to stand behind the incredible recovery community here in the Mat-Su, we want you there!

Recovery Month is about celebrating progress, recognizing the many paths to recovery, and reminding people that recovery is possible. On September 19th, let’s show just how strong that community is here in the Mat-Su.

Did you know....MY House has an Empowerment Program every Tuesday at 2 PM?

Since 2016, the Empowerment Program has been giving young people opportunities to learn practical skills, try new things, and hear from people with lived experience who share their own journeys and what they’ve learned along the way.

Every Tuesday, our youth come together for something different. Community partners, including Public Health, come in to teach classes, and topics have ranged from nutrition, goal setting, and dental hygiene to basic car repair, budgeting and grocery shopping, working well with employers, team building, and learning how to enroll at Mat-Su College.

Once a month, Empowerment heads to Wasilla Bible Church for hands-on cooking lessons, giving youth another practical skill they can take with them into everyday life.

Sometimes the best learning happens outside the classroom. The program also includes field trips and experiences like visiting the fire station, hiking, and playing disc golf.

For nearly a decade, Empowerment has been about more than teaching a class. It’s about giving young people practical knowledge, new experiences, connections within their community, and skills they can carry into their future.

Every Tuesday at 2 PM at MY House.
