Each year, Perkins runs Camp Abilities Boston, a week-long program where students with connect with peers and participate in recreational experiences in a supportive environment that meets them where they are.

For the surfing unit, students first practiced balancing on dry land before making their way to the pool and getting up on the boards. 🏄

"Pride is about belonging. The hard-won recognition that every person deserves to be fully seen, fully valued, and fully themselves. Belonging sits at the center of everything we do for the students, families, and communities we serve," says Perkins President and CEO, David Barth.

From our community to yours, we see you, we celebrate you, and we are proud to be a place where everyone belongs. 🏳️‍🌈

Play is how children explore, connect, problem-solve, and make sense of the world. For children with , it can also be a powerful pathway to inclusion, confidence, and participation.

In recognition of , Katie Holland, Perkins’ Executive Director of International Programs, sat down with Justin van Fleet of Theirworld to reflect on the power of play to unlock learning, belonging, and opportunity for every child.

As global momentum grows around learning through play, we have an opportunity – and a responsibility – to ensure that every child is included from the start. Because play is not a luxury: it’s fundamental to every child’s learning.

Inclusive play creates moments where every child can learn. And that’s the heart of what we do at Perkins.

In Vietnam, a school community came together in celebration of people with disabilities, bringing students, their families, and local community members into a shared, joyful space.

With support from The LEGO Foundation, Perkins worked alongside teachers to set up a LEGO® Braille Bricks corner, bringing learning through play to life. Students with and without disabilities engaged in activities like discovering mystery objects, finding word associations, and math challenges, exploring and learning side by side.

Accessible materials help break down barriers, making play and learning possible for every child. Accessible play is inclusive play, and inclusive play changes lives. 💙

No snow? No problem! 🛷

In Adapted classes at Perkins, students with disabilities are exposed to a variety of sports and athletics.

Today, Kelsey takes us through our adaptive station, where students can practice pushing or pulling the sled on a mat across the gym floor.
