World Humanitarian Day 🌍

Today we’re celebrating World Humanitarian Day and honoring the incredible humanitarian workers who show up for communities around the globe, often in the toughest circumstances imaginable.

A huge thank you to all of our global partners who help us distribute period products to women and girls throughout the world. Because of you, more girls can stay in school, more women can work and live with dignity, and menstrual health is treated as the basic human right it is — not a barrier.

Period poverty is still a daily reality for millions, but every shipment, every distribution effort, and every partnership chips away at that. Your work on the ground — often unseen and unglamorous — makes all the difference.

To every partner organization, volunteer, and local team member: thank you for your dedication.

Here’s to continuing this work together. 💛

Fihri is thrilled to announce our very first social impact trip!

But first - meet the woman who inspired it all.

Fatima Al-Fihri was a Muslim scholar and visionary who, in 859 AD, founded the University of Al-Qarawiyyin in Fes, Morocco - the oldest continuously operating university in the world. At a time when women’s voices were rarely heard, she used her inheritance to build an institution of knowledge that has shaped scholars for over 1,000 years. Her legacy is proof that one woman’s courage can change the course of history.

This October, we honor her by journeying to Morocco for the Fatima Al-Fihri Legacy Retreat - an 8-day social impact experience where travel meets purpose.

In honor of World Refugee Day this week, we’d like to highlight our Sudan campaign. Nearly 14 million people have been uprooted since April 2023, with over 9 million people currently displaced internally, making it the world’s largest displacement and humanitarian crisis.

In collaboration with Islamic Relief USA and SAPA , Fihri was able to bring period products and hygiene kits to women and girls in North Darfur, Sudan. We were able to distribute 5,600 period products to 400 displaced women and girls in the area.

Aisha, a 22-year-old mother of two, arrived in Tawila camp in North Darfur after fleeing conflict in her village. The journey was difficult, and she arrived with little more than the clothes she was wearing. Living in a makeshift shelter, access to basic hygiene and menstrual hygiene items was a constant struggle, affecting both her health and self-esteem.

Receiving a dignity kit was a turning point for Aisha. The soap, shampoo, sanitary pads, underwear, and comb allowed her to maintain personal hygiene and restored a sense of normalcy and privacy that had been lost during displacement. For Aisha, the kit was not only about cleanliness; it was a reminder that she had not been forgotten.

Thank you to all of our generous donors who helped restore dignity to women like Aisha ❤️

A huge thank you to the Boston Stantec office for opening their doors and hosting an incredible Period Palooza in support of the amazing women at Women's Lunch Place! 💙

Events like this remind us how powerful a community can be when it comes together for a meaningful cause. Your generosity and compassion make a real difference in the lives of women who need it most.

A special shoutout to Paige for her outstanding leadership in organizing this volunteer event — none of this would have been possible without your dedication, energy, and heart. Thank you for going above and beyond! 🙌

Together, we’re breaking stigmas, building community, and making sure no woman has to go without essential period products. Here’s to many more events like this! 🌸
