Birch Grove residents had a blast during our recent Drums Alive session. Drums Alive is an evidence-based wellness program that has been shown to improve physical, mental, and social-emotional well-being. The sessions combine music, movement, and lots of laughter as participants use drumsticks and exercise balls to keep beat with the music. This interactive experience is a wonderful way to boost coordination and cognitive function, reduce stress, and bring people together through the power of music and rhythm.

Creativity was in full bloom at Fox Hill Village for our “Arts in Bloom” exhibit! 🌸🎨
Nine talented residents created floral arrangements inspired by well-known works of art, blending imagination, color, and creativity in beautiful ways.

Thank you to all residents who participated, and to Resident Art Lecturer Dorothy A. for leading an engaging talk on the artists and their paintings, adding depth and meaning to the exhibit. 🦊🌺🖼️

There’s no getting around the fact that as we age, we lose muscle mass; our bones get weaker, and our balance and coordination head south. The good news is that strength training can help reverse, or at least slow down, all of these processes.

If you haven’t exercised lately or you’re concerned about a health problem, talk to your doctor before starting an exercise program. Start slowly and gradually build up. Strength training just two or three times a week can make a big difference. You’ll move better, feel better, and reduce your risk of falling. At Fox Hill Village, our health and wellness coach can get you started with a personalized exercise program. Residents at Birch Grove Assisted Living recently enjoyed a visit from Joe’s Crazy Critters. Residents got up close and personal with a fist-sized tarantula, held a giant snail as it came out of its shell, and petted a great horned owl. The encounters sparked joy, curiosity, and wonder. Thank you, Crazy Critters, for giving us an opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures.

Our Community Liaison Kristen Chin spent another day at the State House advocating for Assisted Living policies with the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (MASS ALA). It was so powerful to be meeting with and sharing our personal experiences with local Senators and Representatives along with many other communities who attended as well. Thank you, MASS ALA for everything that you do and for organizing such an awesome event! 🦊
